Neji Hyuga's shout of "Come in!" seemed to drill directly into Takashi Hyuga's ears.
Takashi's expression tightened, his body tensing abruptly as his eyes scanned warily from side to side. When he failed to spot Neji, he nearly activated his Byakugan on instinct.
A chilly breeze swept over him, making Takashi narrow his eyes in vigilance.
"Senior Takashi, what are you doing?" Kyuya Hyuga saw Takashi tense up warily like a cat with its fur standing on end, and he could not help growing nervous as well. He instinctively assumed the opening stance of the Gentle Fist, raising his head to look around. He was just short of activating his Byakugan. "Senior Takashi, what's wrong?"
It was already somewhat cold and eerie here. Takashi's behavior made Kyuya feel as though he had encountered a ghost.
"You didn't hear it?" Takashi knew he had overreacted. He really had heard Neji's voice just now, and it had abruptly pierced his eardrums.
"Heard what? Don't scare me, Senior Takashi. Could Neji have..." Kyuya's face turned pale as fear rose in him. Even his hands trembled slightly as he replied.
"It's nothing. Neji just told me to come in." Takashi was certain that Neji had called him, but only he had heard that peculiar method of summoning him. "Come on, let's go inside."
"Senior Takashi, how about you go in alone..." Kyuya looked fearfully at the residence before him, his chest shrinking inward. Before he could finish, Takashi chopped him on the head with a hand strike.
"Shut up. Come in with me." Takashi's face darkened. He shot Kyuya a fierce glare, pushed open the gates of the residence, and walked inside.
"I only just graduated from the Ninja Academy..." Kyuya muttered as he huddled behind Takashi, glancing around nervously.
