"So you're the brat who wants to compete with me for the position of Hokage?" A beautiful figure strode in briskly, chin raised and chest thrust out, trying to look down on Neji Hyuga. However, she was not as tall as Neji Hyuga, so her almond-shaped eyes could only glare fiercely at him.
"Lady Tsunade!"
"Lady Tsunade!!"
"Lady Tsunade."
Most of the Jonin around them greeted Tsunade respectfully and in unison when they saw her appear.
"Jiraiya, let go of me. I won't hit this kid. If you don't let go, I'll hit you instead." Tsunade snapped at Jiraiya several times. Jiraiya awkwardly released her, looking somewhat helpless.
"Tell me, why do you want to become Hokage?" Tsunade turned and demanded of Neji Hyuga.
In truth, she had not wanted to return and become Hokage this time. But Jiraiya had appealed to both her emotions and reason, talking about everything from her grandfather Hashirama Senju to the Third Hokage. He had even said that the Third Hokage had warned him that Neji Hyuga harbored ill intentions toward Konoha, that he was arrogant like Madara Uchiha, and that if Konoha fell into Neji Hyuga's hands, it would sooner or later be destroyed.
Even so, Tsunade had not been particularly eager to return to Konoha. Later, however, she saw the shadow of her younger brother Nawaki in Uzumaki Naruto's actions. They were both people who relentlessly pursued the position of Hokage as their dream. In the end, Tsunade could not bring herself to abandon the foundation her grandfather Hashirama Senju had built, and she agreed to return with Jiraiya to run for Hokage.
