A portal ring, its edges wreathed in sparks, appeared once more in the Oval Office. Ancient One's thin, tranquil face emerged, clad in yellow robes, with a world of raging snowstorms and biting cold behind her.
The frigid air swept some of the snow and wind directly into the Oval Office through the portal, causing the temperature to plummet. Quite a few people suddenly shivered.
"Then hurry up!" This time, General Ross did not immediately transform into the Red Hulk. Seeing Ancient One appear in robes similar to those worn by the mages Nick Fury had brought, he frowned, deeply dissatisfied.
The Oval Office was the nation's highest administrative office. It should have been the safest, most dignified administrative center, one that displayed the nation's stature.
Yet these mages could simply cross into this administrative center through a ring of sparks at will. General Ross had strong objections to that.
General Ross was not the only one with objections. The other Cabinet members also had their own thoughts, but with the president's fate still unknown, they could not spare the attention to voice their displeasure.
Any objections would have to wait until they knew whether the president had survived.
Ancient One stepped through the portal and entered. She smiled at the crowd before turning to survey the surrounding walls and environment.
Stephen Strange followed behind her. Neither Ancient One nor Stephen Strange bore the slightest trace of snow or wind upon them; they were as clean as though they had been sitting in an air-conditioned office all day.
Recently, Ancient One had begun taking Stephen Strange with her, preparing for him to inherit the title of Sorcerer Supreme and take over the Sanctums and more of Kamar-Taj's secrets.
