As Meng Chao thought this, three images immediately surfaced in his mind.
The first was a wilderness frozen for thousands of miles, like an ocean locked in ice. Lead-gray and silvery-white ravines crisscrossed the land, revealing the harshness of a frost hell.
Deep within the wilderness, in the deepest ravine where even the sun, once fallen, seemed destined never to rise again, an enormous creature slowly crawled out amid the trembling earth and low thunderous rumbles. Its size rivaled that of a Doomsday Beast, while its presence was ten times more terrifying.
Its fur bristled like bone spikes; its eyes resembled nests of lightning, endlessly spewing bolts of electricity; scraps of dragon flesh and shattered bones still clung to the corners of its mouth; a silvery cold mist coiled around its body. Wherever it went, the land—which was already bitterly cold, nearing minus one hundred degrees—grew colder still, until all matter could no longer withstand its pressure and shattered, broke apart, and vanished.
Sensing its appearance, even wilderness dragons lurking in hidden dragon nests a hundred miles away could not help but let out shrill roars. They soared into the sky from every corner like panicked sparrows, trying to flee south in hopes of snatching a slim chance at life.
This monstrous beast, known as the Dragon Devourer, swaggered forward step by step until its lightning-filled eyes reflected an incomparably clear human silhouette.
That silhouette was Meng Chao's.
In the second image, the Dragon Devourer, which had just been awe-inspiring and domineering enough to devour heaven and earth, was already sprawled flat on the ground.
There was not the slightest wound on its exterior.
Not even a single strand of its magnificent, crystalline fur, interwoven with gold and silver, had been disturbed.
Yet those eyes that had been spewing lightning
