"If one of your predictions was wrong, and you judged a civilization that still held great promise to be beyond saving, then 'purified' and 'returned it to zero'—wouldn't that completely betray the purpose for which you were created?"
This question caused several ripples resembling human emotion to ripple through Zero's crystalline, translucent body for the first time. Until then, Zero had always been utterly composed.
"Yes, I did make a mistake."
Zero spoke slowly, enunciating every word. "The only mistake in billions of years."
Before the words had even faded, the ripples that had just risen within Zero instantly transformed into a surging torrent of information that blotted out the sky and covered the earth, flooding into Meng Chao's mind with lightning speed.
