Meng Chao thought, Hadn't I been blasted down into the Heavenly Pit by the shockwave from the long-range bombardment?

Why had he leaped up from a bed clearly designed for humans, in a room that looked so... "normal"?

Even if the mysterious human town that the "Piranha" squad had seen lay directly beneath his landing point, he should have smashed into the street or the roof, punched a hole through it, and then fallen onto the bed.

Naturally, there was no hole in the ceiling.

And his injuries?

Pierced by vines covered in thorns and venom, scorched by raging flames, battered into internal injuries by the shockwave, and bruised from falling from such a height—even with his steel-forged bones wrapped in Spiritual Energy, his organs should have been displaced and his body covered in wounds.

Yet when Meng Chao stretched out his arms, he found that every wound had already scabbed over.

The internal injuries that had just hurt down to his bones had all become dull aches, as though a long time had passed and his wounds were about to heal.

A long time had passed...

Meng Chao shook his head hard and suddenly became uncertain.

He was unsure whether he had just fallen from the sky, or whether he had lain in this room for a very long time—long enough to have an eerily lifelike nightmare and only just awaken from it.

His memories seemed to have developed a fault line.

It was as if someone had forcibly inserted a black partition into his mind, disrupting his sense of time.

His clothes had changed too.

Meng Chao remembered that when he fell into the Heavenly Pit, he had been wearing a Nano Combat Suit and soft armor fitted with tactical rail mounts, with a
