Chapter Summaries

Laramoth and Aranana fled the Ruin Serpent after rescuing a trapped companion in The Chasm, until Lin Feng arrived and restrained the Abyss-powered machine. With Zhongli's approval, Lin Feng planned to have scholars from Sumeru and Liyue study it, then teleported the Aranara and the sealed serpent to Nahida.

• Laramoth and Aranana escaped through the mine tunnels while the Ruin Serpent pursued them, and Laramoth prepared to hold it off as Aranana carried their rescued companion's seed.
• Laramoth recalled how he and Aranana had found the companion in The Chasm, attracted the Ruin Serpent with their Dendro power, and failed to keep it down because it continually revived.
• Lin Feng appeared and pinned the Ruin Serpent in place with a giant stone hand, then discovered that Abyssal Power and Ley Line Rebirth made the machine exceptionally difficult to destroy.
• Zhongli reassured Lin Feng that the Aranara were not to blame for the damage and agreed that scholars from Sumeru and Liyue could jointly study the machine.

Lin Feng and Zhongli released the Skyfrost Nail fragment and sealed The Chasm’s polluted depths, while Dainsleif left to search for the Abyss Order in Mondstadt. In the lower levels, they captured a Hydro Lector that feared Lin Feng, giving him his first prisoner to question.

• Lin Feng asked Zhongli about the Skyfrost Nail, and Zhongli explained that its power opposed the Abyss and that fragments appeared at gaps or heavily polluted regions.
• Lin Feng and Zhongli released the Skyfrost Nail fragment, reinforced the barrier, sealed the deep mining area with rock, and redistributed exposed mineral veins into the upper layers.
• Dainsleif found the golden barrier at The Chasm, chose not to cross it, and set off for Mondstadt to search for the Abyss Order.
• Lin Feng recognized the purple mist as the hiding place of an Electro Element Abyss Herald and a Pyro Element Herald, but a Hydro Lector emerged from a portal before he could disperse it.

Aether learned that the Abyss Order’s operations were being disrupted by Lin Feng and considered whether to reconcile with the powerful Descender. In The Chasm, Lin Feng captured an Abyss Lector, then worked with Zhongli to awaken and defeat two Abyss Heralds, gaining enough power to pass level ninety.

• An Abyss Lector reported to Aether that Fayar had gone missing after teleporting to The Chasm, and Aether ordered the Abyss Order to shift its activity toward Mondstadt while he considered contacting the Descender.
• Lin Feng extracted information from the captured Abyss Lector and learned that Aether had ordered the Abyss Order to avoid him, then stored the captive instead of devouring it.
• Lin Feng told Zhongli that his power had disrupted the Lector’s teleportation, and Zhongli asked him to clear the remaining Abyssal contamination.

After reaching Level 90, Lin Feng learned from Zhongli how the strange space beneath The Chasm had formed and discovered a godlike consciousness sealed beneath the Skyfrost Nail. Zhongli stirred the hardened Abyssal corruption so Lin Feng could absorb it, and Lin Feng began devouring the contamination throughout the underground region.

• Lin Feng reached Level 90 after devouring the two Abyss Heralds and activated his Dendro and Geo Authorities.
• Lin Feng told Zhongli that the Abyss Heralds feared an ancient existence in the deepest part of The Chasm.
• Zhongli explained that The Chasm’s deepest space formed where Abyssal Power, the Skyfrost Nail, and a fallen star’s power disrupted one another around a crack in the world.
• Lin Feng and Zhongli reached the Skyfrost Nail and sensed a chaotic consciousness sealed beneath it, powerful enough to rival a god.
• Lin Feng asked Zhongli to shake loose the Abyssal Power embedded in the mud so he could purify the region.
• Zhongli stirred the underground corruption with his Geo Authority, and Lin Feng began absorbing the exposed Abyssal Power.

Lin Feng finished purifying the Abyssal Power in The Chasm and learned that repairing its ley lines could provoke Azhdaha, Zhongli’s old friend, into a destructive rampage. Lin Feng accepted the challenge of confronting Azhdaha, provided Zhongli could contain the battle’s damage to Liyue.

• Lin Feng devoured the Abyssal Power throughout The Chasm, clearing its pollution and collecting several ancient devices for the Sumeru Akademiya.
• Lin Feng told Zhongli that the cleansing operation was complete, and Zhongli explained that repairing the ley lines could affect Azhdaha, a Geo Dragon sensitive to their changes.

They returned to Liyue Harbor at dawn, where Zhongli prepared to announce The Chasm’s reopening and Lin Feng reflected on the ordinary lives he hoped to protect.
