Mercenary Camp

Moonlight was obscured by dark clouds as a small, cloaked figure walked through the dense forest. Eerie light continuously flowed across her black cloak, while a black raven circled above her head, screeching harshly, "That's right, this way."

Li Wen remained silent. They had been traveling like this for quite some time. Marsha had said she did not want to frighten anyone, which was why she had taken the form of a raven.

But no matter how Li Wen thought about it, a talking raven was hardly less frightening than an old witch. Besides, how could a Ghost Fairy possibly care about human feelings?

For reasons unknown to Li Wen, Ghost Fairy Marsha claimed that she would help her find those Mercenaries.

All fairies were born with mastery over fairy magic, and Ghost Fairies were among the most powerful kinds of fairies. With Granny Marsha's help, things would indeed be much easier for Li Wen.

"You don't look like the warmhearted sort."

The Ghost Fairy said this to Li Wen, and Li Wen immediately retorted:

"Neither do you."

The raven let out a chilling cawing laugh, tacitly admitting it.

"They're right ahead, those people."

She did not need it to tell her. Li Wen had already spotted the firelight from afar.

This group of Mercenaries had built a camp in the forest for long-term use, one that also kept them hidden from town guards and the private armies of lords.

Li Wen did not have much mana left. Since fighting the demon, she had not meditated once. After obtaining the Ghost Fairy's permission, she took a bottle of pale green, transparent potion from the Goblin's Treasure Bag. It was a Clarity Potion, which could clear the mind and was often used to urgently restore mana when it was critically low.
