However, constrained by technology far inferior to Germany's, the development of Buru artillery was an extremely difficult road.
When Germany and Buru were still in their honeymoon period, Buru had attempted to introduce the technology for the 105mm Light Howitzer and 150mm Howitzer from Germany, but their request had not been approved. These two guns were the German Army's primary infantry-support artillery, so they naturally could not be handed over easily to other nations—especially potential enemies.
With no other choice, Buru could only develop them on their own. Because their gun steel was vastly inferior to Germany's, the 105mm Light Howitzers and 150mm Howitzers developed by Buru were utterly unable to compare with the two guns equipped by the German Army. This forced them to seek another path.
Increasing the caliber and lengthening the barrels became their only option. This was precisely why the Buru Army developed the 122mm Howitzer and 152mm Howitzer. Even so, the performance of these two guns still lagged behind the German Army's 105mm Howitzer and 150mm Howitzer by a certain margin.
