Countless Russian soldiers shouted slogans as they stepped over the corpses of their comrades on the ground and launched an assault on the German defensive line. But what answered them was the dense German firepower.

German artillery and machine guns were firing madly. Their overwhelming firepower kept the Russian troops from even reaching the German defensive line, much less breaking through it.
In the sky, German formations of aircraft launched attack after attack. To support the German military on the ground, the German Air Force had truly gone all out.
