After the commanders of the three army groups issued their orders, thirteen German army groups took the lead in launching an offensive against the Russian forces on the outskirts of Moscow.
Fifteen Armored Divisions and thirty Mechanized Infantry Divisions were all committed to the offensive. In an instant, over seven thousand German tanks and a massive number of armored vehicles formed rolling torrents of steel, charging toward the Russian positions.

Individual tank commanders even popped their heads out of the tank hulls. Although somewhat dangerous, this was the combat style commanders favored most. After all, it allowed them to spot threatening targets in the very first instance.
In the sky, German Air Force FW-190 fighter planes, Dive Bombers, and attackers swept past the torrent of steel composed of German tanks and armored vehicles, charging toward the Russian positions. Once they discovered anti-tank fire points on the Russian positions, they would launch attacks to eliminate these threats.
