Boom! Boom!
Violent explosions rang out aboard the aircraft carrier Yorktown as German Navy carrier-based aircraft frantically hurled Aerial Bombs at her. Though Yorktown had raised her speed to thirty knots and charged left and right across the sea like a wild buffalo, she still could not shake off the German Navy's carrier-based aircraft. Aerial Bombs struck her again and again.
Four Torpedo Bombers launched an attack on Yorktown from the flank. At that moment, Yorktown was evading the Aerial Bombs raining down from the sky and failed to notice them at all.
The four Torpedo Bombers dropped their torpedoes less than eight hundred meters from Yorktown. Eight Heavy Torpedoes smashed heavily into the sea and sank beneath the waves. But they soon surged back up and sped toward Yorktown.
