Boom!
A King Tiger heavy tank took aim at an M26 heavy tank over a thousand meters away. After the gunner pressed the firing button, the shell screamed out of the barrel under the force of its immense kinetic energy.
Just over a second later, the armor-piercing shell slammed into the turret of the M26 heavy tank. The frontal turret armor was easily penetrated, and an explosion erupted. The entire turret was blown clean off in the blast.
"Good job! Keep moving forward!" the Tank Commander ordered.
The tank continued forward as it searched for its next target.
Clang!
Suddenly, a crisp metallic ring sounded, and the German military's King Tiger heavy tank jolted violently. Inside the tank, every German armored crewman went pale. They had even prepared themselves to face death. After all, though a tank had thick armor, in essence it was little different from a moving iron coffin. Once its armor was pierced by an enemy armor-piercing shell, the crew inside would be nine deaths for every one chance of life. Not only could armor fragments kill them, but the ammunition might also detonate in sympathy.
However, the armored crew inside this King Tiger tank had far better luck.
The thick frontal armor of the King Tiger heavy tank blocked the 90-millimeter armor-piercing shell. The shell merely left a small dent in the tank's frontal armor before ricocheting away.
Compared with vertical armor, sloped armor was relatively less likely to be penetrated.
"It didn't penetrate us! We weren't penetrated!" the gunner cheered wildly.
"Haha, we survived a great calamity! Keep moving forward!" the Tank Commander ordered with a broad grin.
They had not been penetrated and had picked up their lives again. Naturally, they felt immensely relieved.
"Damn it! It actually didn't penetrate? How is that possible?
