"Commander, the Germans have landed. The coastal forces of the 146th Infantry Division and 303rd Infantry Division have already been routed by the enemy," Major General Anda Jiu, Chief of Staff of the Island Nation's 40th Army Corps, reported.
"Baka! A bunch of useless fools! The German attack has only just begun, and the troops have already collapsed. Are they still warriors of the Empire?" Lieutenant General Nakazawa Mitsuo, commander of the 40th Army Corps, cursed furiously.
The Island Nation's Army was no longer the elite force it had once been. Although a large number of troops had been raised on the Island Nation's Mainland, the overwhelming majority were fresh recruits who had only recently enlisted. Moreover, only half were young and strong, while the other half were old and weak. Even their weapons and equipment had not been fully issued. Besides the 146th Infantry Division and the 303rd Infantry Division, the 40th Army Corps also commanded the Independent Mixed 125th Brigade and the 4th Artillery Command, which included the Independent 9th Field Artillery Regiment, Field Heavy Artillery 28th Regiment, Field Heavy Artillery 20th Battalion, Independent Heavy Artillery 44th Battalion, Self-Propelled Artillery 8th Battalion, and the 21st, 24th, and 25th Mortar Battalions.
It had to be admitted that the artillery strength of the Island Nation's 40th Army Corps was quite formidable. When the German Navy's warships had bombarded them fiercely, these artillery units had remained hidden and never revealed themselves.
