Xiao Yi took the letter from Liu Bin and opened it. Inside was an invitation.
The invitation was fairly simple, not custom-made, and everything on it was handwritten—though perhaps Schultz had invited so few people to this conference personally that there was no need to have special invitations made.
The cover bore the theme of this academic conference: "The abc Conjecture and Shinichi Mochizuki, Far Abelian Geometry." It also made clear that besides discussing Shinichi Mochizuki's work on the abc conjecture, attendees could also discuss Far Abelian Geometry and exchange academic ideas.
Upon opening it, there was only a single sentence inside.
Hello, Mr. Xiao Yi! On behalf of the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics, I sincerely invite you to attend the academic discussion conference, "The abc Conjecture and Shinichi Mochizuki, Far Abelian Geometry," to be held by our institute on September 13. The Max Planck Institute for Mathematics welcomes your arrival. —Peter Schultz.
As Liu Bin looked at the invitation, envy inevitably appeared on his face. He certainly would not receive an invitation to an academic seminar like this. If he wanted to attend, he would probably have to email the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics to apply, and they might not even approve it. After all, one had to have at least some research in Far Abelian Geometry.
Liu Bin's graduate students also crowded over, wanting to see what an invitation from a Fields Medal winner looked like.
Schultz's signature alone was probably worth collecting, wasn't it?
"You brat..." Liu Bin let out a long sigh.
Well, this was great. He had initially wanted Xiao Yi to come to their school and temper the arrogance of those young geniuses, but now Xiao Yi had ended up affecting him too.
After calming himself, he asked, "You're planning to attend
