After reading the history of the Future World, Lu Xing finally understood why the nuclear wars of the Ancient Era were not taken seriously.
In that long history, wars that killed less than half the population were beneath the notice of history books.
The reason the history of the twenty-first century was not mentioned was simple too. After all, a single conversation with aliens took five thousand years. That little bit of twenty-first-century history was simply not worth mentioning.
Time flew by.
At five in the afternoon, school let out.
Lu Xing slung his empty backpack over his shoulder and slowly walked out of the classroom. He deliberately took the stairs instead of using the local network to move directly to the school gate.
When he reached the second-floor landing, a male student called out to him.
"You're from the White Cat Society, right?" Lu Xing struck first.
"Yes."
"I'll consider your invitation, but not now."
Lu Xing paused before saying, "Right now, I'm Lu Xing. When I'm Jiang Xuannv next time, tell me your decision then."
The White Cat Society member froze for a moment, then asked with a hint of awe, "You have two adaptation systems?"
Lu Xing had no idea what that meant, but he calmly walked away.
The male student hurried after him and said, "Our White Cat Society is definitely stronger than the others. We have an activity room that can block Intelligent Beings from spying on us, and we've found quite a few loopholes too. For example, we can stay overnight at school without being punished the next day. We can also skip class and walk around campus however we like!"
So those were the loopholes? Lu Xing had thought they meant programming bugs.
He was actually quite interested in the White Cat Society, but now was not the time to interact with humans.
After all, he was acting under Jiang Xuannv's identity. Whatever he did had to be approved by her.
"Talk again in three days."
After tossing out those words, Lu Xing arrived at the school gate. More than ten school buses were already waiting there. He did not need to search for his bus; one question to the Smart Hairpin told him which one to take.
Three days later.
"Novice Trial Mission Two complete. Mission reward: 700 experience points."
With the Smart Hairpin Jiang Xuannv had left behind, Lu Xing finally completed the novice mission of spending three days in the Virtual World. Only ninety points had been deducted from his score.
After falling asleep on the third night, Lu Xing woke up and opened his eyes to find himself squatting on the grass behind the school cafeteria. He held a wooden stick and was poking at an anthill, while several ants crawled up the stick onto his hand.
Before Lu Xing could shake off the ants, a pleasant female voice sounded behind him. "Lu Xing, hurry up and throw away that stick! Ants can bite, and it hurts!"
"..."
What was with that tone people used to coax children?
Lu Xing tossed away the stick, dusted off his hands, and turned to look at the Rich and Beautiful Woman CEO with a GuoTaiMinAn face and a tall, slender figure. "What happened?"
Xiao Yu froze, then only reacted a moment later. Covering her mouth with a delicate pale hand, she laughed. "You changed back? Not playing with ants anymore?"
With Xiao Yu's tall, fair figure and outstanding looks, plus the bizarre sight of a one-meter-eighty university student squatting on the ground to watch an anthill, quite a few students had already stopped nearby to watch. Lu Xing's face reddened, and he quickly pulled Xiao Yu away.
Seeing him holding the beautiful woman's hand, many male students looked disappointed. Their plans to strike up a conversation with the senior student vanished, and they dispersed one after another.
Xiao Yu kept laughing as he held her hand. It was not until they reached a sparsely populated grove that Lu Xing let go. Looking at her speechlessly, he asked, "What happened just now?"
"You don't remember? You were watching ants, and you even tried to poke their nest with a stick!"
Xiao Yu explained with a perfectly serious expression.
If she had not been his girlfriend, Lu Xing really would have wanted to flick her forehead. Now, he could only wait until the next time he became her and flick himself.
Lu Xing sighed. "I was going to tell you some interesting things about the Future World, but it looks like you can't even tell the difference between me and Jiang Xuannv, so forget it."
He turned to leave after saying that.
"You're so petty. I was just joking with you."
Xiao Yu called after him with a smile. She walked with him through the grove and told him what had happened that day.
After learning that Lu Xing had become Jiang Xuannv, she had quickly gone to Hai City University and met Lu Xing, who had become Jiang Xuannv, downstairs from the dormitory building.
"To be honest."
Xiao Yu chuckled. "If not for what happened yesterday, I would have suspected you had split personalities!"
Lu Xing spread his hands.
Xiao Yu brushed back her windblown hair, glanced at him several times, and said with a smile, "She was very calm. First, she asked me whether this was the human world. Then she asked whether she could walk around freely here and do whatever she wanted. I hurriedly told her she could not do anything illegal. She wanted to read the laws and regulations here, said 'connect to the network' at the air, and tried three times before giving up."
Lu Xing did not know whether to laugh or cry. "Her world is a Virtual World, and even if it weren't, future humans can access the internet whenever they want."
"Huh?"

"In the Future World, everyone goes online with their thoughts. It's normal not to know how to type." Lu Xing explained, "As for pinyin, they probably have chips implanted from birth and recognize characters directly."
After all, he had lived in the Future World for three days. He could now understand many of Jiang Xuannv's actions.
"Unbelievable."
Xiao Yu's tone turned wistful. "She learned incredibly fast. She understood every operation after seeing it once, could apply what she learned about pinyin to other things, and soon learned to type and browse the internet. Then the first thing she did was read the Constitution of China, download the Criminal Code and Civil Code, and start studying them seriously."
By the end, even she could not help laughing. She seemed to find the image of a sixteen-year-old girl seriously studying law amusing, especially when she wore Lu Xing's appearance.
Lu Xing, however, could not laugh. He sighed. "You have to understand, in a world where even spacing out in class costs points, this is just how absurd it is."
"You lost points for spacing out in class while attending for Jiang Xuannv?" Xiao Yu asked.
Lu Xing nodded. "Continue."
"I bought her breakfast. After she finished eating, she pointed at your lower abdomen and said it felt strange inside. I questioned you for ages before realizing you wanted to go to the bathroom."
Xiao Yu started laughing again.
Lu Xing wanted to flick her forehead again. "Don't keep saying 'you' this and 'she' that. Watch your pronouns. It was Jiang Xuannv, not me!"
"I know, I know!"
Xiao Yu held back her laughter. "She lives in a Virtual World and has never gone to a bathroom. I know that!"
It would have been funny only if Lu Xing himself did not know how to use a bathroom.
After suppressing her laughter, Xiao Yu continued, "I had no choice but to call one of your classmates down and have him take you—no, take Jiang Xuannv—back to the dormitory to use the bathroom."
Lu Xing's heart sank. Damn it, Qi Wenyu would definitely suspect he was having another episode. He might have already made an appointment with a psychiatrist for him!
