The reason I wrote this book was different from all my previous ones.

I still remembered one rainy day in May 2019. I was carrying my laptop and about to head out to write.

Suddenly, an editor I was fairly close with sent me an urgent message, telling me to quickly change the title of my previous book. But by the next second, it was already too late.

I was deeply troubled during that period, for a very simple reason: my source of income had been cut off.

After about two days, I pulled myself together and sat back down at my computer to devise an entirely new framework.

As it happened,

I had just caught up on Part II of Attack on Titan Season 3. The scene of Commander Erwin's sacrifice moved me profoundly; it had been a long time since something had touched me so deeply.

So I began to wonder,

Could I create an apocalyptic novel like Attack on Titan, where humanity was confined beneath towering walls and could only struggle to explore the Outside World?

The next thing I needed to decide was what lay beyond those walls that could make people tremble... The answer quickly came to me: Cthulhu Mythos.

This book heavily altered the original Cthulhu Mythos settings. For that very reason, I rarely used names such as the Cthulhu Mythos Outer Gods or Great Old Ones for the Old Kings throughout the story, instead referring to them by titles and letter codes.

After seven days of preparation, I released this book.

I began serializing it with practically no saved chapters at all. That meant I did not dare get sick, nor did I ever promise any bonus chapters between updates.
