The reason the Main Battlefield for attacking the humans had been set in the wetlands was closely tied to Toad City.

she would construct a super wetland capable of covering forty-five percent of central Italos.

Through the overlapping effects of the four Medium Deeds, combined with such an Epic Grade chaotic treasure... the super wetland could greatly suppress outsiders' senses, causing them to easily lose their way within it.

That was also why the Eye of the Expedition could not see through it, forcing the Expeditionary Force to station itself in the wetlands.
