"Today's lesson is a trial class. You can first see which teacher you like." That was what Shen Qing said. She was a decisive person; probably on the very night Kōshū had told her, she had already started contacting teachers.
"Okay." Kōshū would not be so ungrateful.
Then the bearded teacher on the other end immediately stunned him. "I heard from your mother that you want to go to the Major League later on?"
What did that have to do with anything?
"No. Before that, there are still the hurdles of entering Japanese Professional Baseball and dominating Japanese Professional Baseball. But in the end, I think everyone's goal is the Major League." Kōshū explained in a mixture of English and Japanese.
The other man was probably an American who really loved baseball too. "That's great. You know, a lot of Asian players have trouble adjusting after they get to the Major League. If they weren't stars to begin with, they'll probably have to climb up from the farm system. Your time gets wasted, the money you could've earned during your prime gets wasted, and most importantly, your arm might be past its expiration date too."
When this big burly guy said "expiration date," he even raised both hands to make air quotes.
"Haha, what's your favorite team?" Kōshū relaxed. Foreigners really did have such expressive faces; a grown man could look like a child.
"I've lived in Los Angeles since I was little, so, you know, the Dodgers. In America, baseball is more of a family culture. My grandfather was a Dodgers fan, my dad was too, so I became one as well. When I have kids, maybe they'll be Dodgers fans too."
"You're not married yet?" As it turned out, this scruffy, bearded uncle was actually not even thirty.
