At Edogawa, Miyuki catches for Hasegawa despite their poor personal relationship. Rather than easing tensions, he uses Hasegawa's resentment and stubbornness to draw out stronger pitching; their coach tolerates the conflict so long as it produces wins. 17

Miyuki later engineers Kōshū's meeting with Narumiya Mei, presenting Mei as a “real ace” and pressuring Kōshū to pitch after watching him.
