Background & History
The Demon Sect was founded when Yan Li, the eldest disciple of Teacher, recruited too many disciples during his travels and established a sect for them. Its original twelve first-generation disciples were once insignificant cultivators, but grew rapidly through their opportunities and Teacher's support. Many later died on the cultivation path, while Yan Li entered Secluded Life-or-Death Cultivation. 37 58
It is younger than most of the Seven Great Sects: Shen Yan is only its second-generation Sect Master. Although its historical foundation is comparatively shallow, the strength of its leadership makes it a major force. 37
The sect's “demonic” designation stems from the cultivation paths associated with Teacher, who was historically regarded as a demon for pioneering the Qi Eating path. Teacher and his Martial Uncle worked to change the cultivation world's perception of such methods, which eventually came to be recognized as another school of cultivation rather than an inherently evil practice. 75 463

Disciples
- Outer Sect Disciples — Perform sect tasks, train through practical work, and may challenge for advancement. Many remain Outer Sect Disciples for life due to limited Inner Sect openings. 238
- Inner Sect Disciples — More advanced disciples; promotion is determined through an assessment against an Inner Sect Deacon suppressing their cultivation to the candidate's realm. 351
- Direct disciples of senior figures — Elders and Peak Lords may recruit promising Outer Sect Disciples during promotion, while exceptional cases can receive special admission. 21 238
- Sword-Serving Disciples — Players personally selected and trained by Lu Xun after the arrival of the Variants. 241 260
Cultivation Methods
Qi Devouring Art
The Qi Devouring Art is the Demon Sect's introductory cultivation method. Rather than primarily refining Qi through harmony with heaven and earth, it follows the Demonic Path principle of devouring Spiritual Energy to form a personal “small world.” 14 25
- Entering the first layer requires guiding the first wisp of Spiritual Qi into the Qi Sea. 30
- Breaking through from the first to the second layer is unusually difficult, requiring an understanding of one's own Qi Sea. 30
- It serves as a foundational method; cultivators need a more advanced technique after reaching its Level 10 limit. 102
- The sect's original copy was preserved among modern cultivation methods in Lu Xun's Martial Uncle's study. 453
Five Elements Technique
Teacher offered Lu Xun unrestricted access to the Inheritance Tower's top floor or a unique Five Elements Technique. Though commonly mocked as a weak, overly balanced method, the technique had once been cultivated to an extremely high level. 112
Territory & Facilities
- Mountain Protection Array — Surrounds the sect's peaks. Crafted by Teacher, it has never been forcibly breached without the intruder suffering consequences; even major cultivators are said to have failed to pass through unscathed. 16
- Reception Peak — A sword-sheath-shaped peak flattened by a single strike from Yan Li. It contains half of Yan Li's Sword Qi, which serves as a formidable guardian. 37 139
- Back Mountain — The secluded domain of Teacher and the direct disciples; it is distinct from the sect's ordinary hierarchy and was sealed following Gongshu Pan's death. 241 491
- Hidden Mountain — Holds the sect's legacy, including Immortal Items and artifact spirits that joined the Mountain Protection Array against the Alien Race. 491 497
- Inheritance Tower — Contains numerous techniques collected by Teacher, including Purple-Grade techniques and top-tier methods on its highest floor. 112
- Tortoise Longevity — A training ground operated by the sect and opened to outsiders for a fee. 75
- Ancient ruins — The sect permits disciples to train in lesser ruins; unless an item is exceptionally valuable, disciples may keep what they find. 281
Customs & Culture
The Demon Sect is portrayed as unrestrained and informal, but strongly united. Its members may joke about their demonic reputation, yet they honor long-standing agreements and rally quickly when fellow disciples are threatened. 29 138 334
- Outer Sect tasks exist both to maintain the sect and to develop disciples' control of Spiritual Power; task allocation is limited so labor does not overwhelm cultivation. 238
- The sect's Outer Sect Competition allows outside newcomers to challenge any Outer Sect Disciple. A defeated sect disciple is eliminated, while a victory counts as their first-round win. 243
- Unlike the Righteous Sects, the Three Great Demonic Sects deal with outside challengers before conducting their internal competition. 244
- The sect accepts newcomers with clean backgrounds, particularly those likely to develop loyalty and belonging, such as orphaned Ji Li. 13
- Its disciples are known to step forward in succession during crises rather than abandon one another. 283
Relations
- Spring Autumn Forest — Fellow member of the Three Great Demonic Sects and the Demonic Path. 12
- Unrestrained Mountain — Fellow member of the Three Great Demonic Sects; its cultivation method was later used to give Xu Zhongcheng a path to recultivate. 12 288
- One Sword Mountain — Maintains a recurring Sword Inquiry agreement with the Demon Sect, held every three years after the Lantern Festival. 138 139
- Ten Thousand Swords Mountain — Participates with One Sword Mountain in the Sword Inquiry; both sects seek an item left in the Demon Sect by the Sword Mountain founder. 139
- Alien Race — Hostile force that targeted the East Region Demon Sect during the Third Advent. 483 496
Major Events
Sword Inquiry
The Demon Sect honors a long-standing wager with One Sword Mountain and Ten Thousand Swords Mountain. Its three rounds involve confronting the half Sword Qi in Reception Peak, facing Sword Dao experts, and a contest between new disciples. 138 139
Variant Arrival
After the Collapse of the Heavenly Dao, Shen Yan followed Teacher's instructions to inform other sects about the catastrophe and the Variants' origins. The sect's leadership chose to await Lu Xun's opinion on handling the new arrivals. 209
Players who joined the sect transformed the Outer Sect's daily routine: they competed for tasks, enthusiastically declaring their willingness to work for the Demon Sect. 238
Alien Race Support Operations
Because no known Alien Race Altars existed within Demon Sect territory, its disciples were able to support other regions during the invasion. Shen Yan explicitly informed nearby sects that Demon Sect disciples were “only lent” and must be returned. 199 343 401
Gongshu Pan's Sacrifice
At Flame River, Gongshu Pan faced the Great Priest's Clone despite being heavily outmatched. After his Black Banner was destroyed and his body was fatally damaged, he merged with the Fire Elemental Vein and transformed into a fire dragon that devoured the Clone. 490
His death was felt across the sect as a hot wind passed through its grounds, while his broken Black Banner appeared over Hidden Mountain. 490 491
Defense of the Demon Sect
The Great Priest attacked the East Region Demon Sect with three Ninth Realm clones of the Venerable One. Shen Yan activated the Mountain Protection Array, while Hidden Mountain's Immortal Items and artifact spirits reinforced it. 496 497
Lu Xun arrived at the breach and drove back the Great Priest with One Sword. Yan Li then emerged from seclusion and effortlessly defeated the invading clones. 497 498
