Background & History

The Demon Sect was founded when Yan Li, the eldest disciple of Teacher, recruited too many disciples during his travels and established a sect for them. Its original twelve first-generation disciples were once insignificant cultivators, but grew rapidly through their opportunities and Teacher's support. Many later died on the cultivation path, while Yan Li entered Secluded Life-or-Death Cultivation. 37 58

It is younger than most of the Seven Great Sects: Shen Yan is only its second-generation Sect Master. Although its historical foundation is comparatively shallow, the strength of its leadership makes it a major force. 37

The sect's “demonic” designation stems from the cultivation paths associated with Teacher, who was historically regarded as a demon for pioneering the Qi Eating path. Teacher and his Martial Uncle worked to change the cultivation world's perception of such methods, which eventually came to be recognized as another school of cultivation rather than an inherently evil practice. 75 463

Qi Devouring Art

The Qi Devouring Art is the Demon Sect's introductory cultivation method. Rather than primarily refining Qi through harmony with heaven and earth, it follows the Demonic Path principle of devouring Spiritual Energy to form a personal “small world.” 14 25

Variant Arrival

After the Collapse of the Heavenly Dao, Shen Yan followed Teacher's instructions to inform other sects about the catastrophe and the Variants' origins. The sect's leadership chose to await Lu Xun's opinion on handling the new arrivals. 209

Gongshu Pan's Sacrifice

At Flame River, Gongshu Pan faced the Great Priest's Clone despite being heavily outmatched. After his Black Banner was destroyed and his body was fatally damaged, he merged with the Fire Elemental Vein and transformed into a fire dragon that devoured the Clone. 490

His death was felt across the sect as a hot wind passed through its grounds, while his broken Black Banner appeared over Hidden Mountain. 490 491

Defense of the Demon Sect

The Great Priest attacked the East Region Demon Sect with three Ninth Realm clones of the Venerable One. Shen Yan activated the Mountain Protection Array, while Hidden Mountain's Immortal Items and artifact spirits reinforced it. 496 497

Lu Xun arrived at the breach and drove back the Great Priest with One Sword. Yan Li then emerged from seclusion and effortlessly defeated the invading clones. 497 498
