Second update

The next morning, when Sun Shaozong left the house, Jia Baoyu was still snoring away in the guest room. By the looks of it, he would not wake before noon.

Sun Shaozong therefore instructed the servants to prepare a hangover remedy for him, then headed straight to the office.

After arriving at Dali Temple, he had originally intended to follow the usual practice and attend the Round Table meeting in the flower hall. But no sooner had he signed in at the Roll Call Office than the clerk on duty informed him that not only had today's morning meeting been canceled, but those for the next several days had been canceled as well.

By Lord Chief Justice Wei Yi's orders, the morning meetings would not resume until the Poisoning Case had been solved.

Tsk.

Wei Yi had truly been driven to desperation.

In truth, Sun Shaozong would have been perfectly happy if those damned morning meetings never convened again.

Modern-day morning meetings might have been full of stale, repetitive talk with nothing new to offer, but at least there had been enough people that sneaking in a nap did not stand out too much.

But here, it was the same three old fellows facing one another every day, like hosts of some variety show. Forget sneaking a nap—even the bits of chive stuck between someone's teeth were plain to see whenever he opened his mouth.

Unfortunately, this case had caused an enormous stir. If it dragged on too long, it would inevitably invite criticism.

Otherwise, Sun Shaozong truly would have liked to keep delaying it.

Since the morning meeting had been waived, Sun Shaozong naturally headed straight for the Left Division. As he approached the door to his own office, a man came forward with
