As each skeleton stepped before Gu Xi, he clearly understood the gains from this round.
Four hundred and seventy-three Black Robe Cultists had been blown to death. Their souls and corpses had all become materials for Gu Xi's summoning.
Whether the summoning succeeded or failed, as long as he used the Summoning skill, he would gain 1 point of Summoning Experience.
In fact, by the time he performed summoning on the last batch of corpses, Gu Xi's Summoning skill had already risen to Level 3.
Though he still couldn't directly summon undead like Walking Corpses, he could already do plenty of interesting things with skeletons.
With the newly appeared Skeleton Heads and Skeleton Warriors, Gu Xi's skeleton forces were beginning to take on a legion structure, along with some special skeletons appearing.
Battle Squad 1 (Level 0, Unnamed, Trait: HP+1): Captain (1/1) Level 0 Skeleton Head, Members (30/30) Level 1 Skeleton (5), Level 0 Skeleton (25) Battle Squad 2 (Level 0, Unnamed, Trait: ATK+1): Captain (1/1) Level 0 Skeleton Head, Members (35/35) Level 0 Skeleton Warrior (3), Level 1 Skeleton (3), Level 0 Skeleton (29) Battle Squad 3 (Level 0, Unnamed, Trait: HP+1): Captain (1/1) Level 0 Skeleton Head, Members (28/28) Level 0 Skeleton (28) Battle Squad 4 (Level 0, Unnamed, Trait: DEF+1): Captain (1/1) Level 0 Skeleton Head, Members (40/40) Level 0 Skeleton Warrior (6), Level 0 Skeleton Shield Guard (3), Level 0 Skeleton (31)
In addition, there were 43 skeletons not assigned to any squad, bringing the total force to 180 Skeleton Soldiers.
Those 43 skeletons weren't left out because of poor stats—Gu Xi simply didn't have enough Skeleton Heads to command them.
Compared to Skeleton Warriors, Skeleton Heads were much harder to come by.
Among the undead under Gu Xi's command, aside from the common ones, there were actually two branches.
One branch was the Head path—they could lead 25 to 50 of their kind in battle. Exactly how many depended on the individual's leadership ability in life.
Following this path, the next step was a Hero who could lead seven squads, and then a Leader who commanded seven Heroes.
Through this method, a Necromancer could easily command an Undead Scourge of over a million.
The other branch was the Warrior path. They had no ability to command their kind, but their combat strength far exceeded ordinary undead.
For example, a normal Level 0 Skeleton had ATK 1, DEF 1, HP 10, while a Warrior would reach ATK 3, DEF 2, HP 20.
They could also retain combat techniques or skills from their lifetime, making them the type of powerful fighters.
Following this path, they would become Elites, and eventually Brave Warriors.
Of course, as usual, neither Elites nor Brave Warriors could match the Hero and Leader paths.
But their combat power was undeniable, and Gu Xi had no intention of underestimating them.
After all 180 skeletons stood in formation, Gu Xi swept his gaze over them.
The enhanced skeletons were clearly much stronger than before.
Even the Level 0 skeletons no longer had withered yellow bones—they were now a normal bone color, thicker and more agile.
Their weapons had also clearly been upgraded.
The first battle squad Gu Xi had led originally carried a dagger in one hand and a short wooden club in the other.
After the upgrade, the dagger was still there, but the short wooden club had been replaced by a Short Hand Axe.
Gu Xi had no idea where the Short Hand Axes came from, but judging by their style, they all bore a clear undead aesthetic.
The remaining three battle squads wielded Two-Handed Swords, Long Spears, and sword-and-shield combinations respectively.
These weapons had all become quite standardized. Looking at the Two-Handed Swords and Long Spears, Gu Xi didn't believe they'd been scavenged from corpses.
It was clear that the Undead Domination skill was extremely important for a Necromancer.
"I'll find a way to allocate points once I'm back."
Gu Xi muttered to himself, then raised his Scimitar and pointed it at the Abandoned Stone Gate not far away.
All the Black Robe Cultists along the way had been killed by Gu Xi's corpse explosion wave. No new ones had been sent yet. Before them, there were no more enemies.
As Gu Xi pointed toward the Abandoned Stone Gate, the skeletons began to move forward.
But Gu Xi hadn't expected that the moment the skeletons started moving, Jack and that group of people would also charge in.
Ignoring the danger, they stepped through the bloody sludge left by the skeletons' emergence and madly rushed toward the Abandoned Stone Gate.
Seeing them like this, Gu Xi was a bit surprised.
But recalling their earlier behavior, he understood—they had risked everything to stay, all for that legend.
When faced with such a legend, they were utterly reckless.
After a moment's hesitation, Gu Xi slowed his undead's advance.
He was different from these people. Gu Xi's goal was to destroy this already-abandoned stone gate.
Whether behind that gate lay what Jack called the Fake City or not didn't matter to Gu Xi.
He just wanted to vent his anger at being captured.
Once the gate was destroyed, he could find a safe place to leave.
As for Jack and the others wanting to enter the Fake City to find some big shot—that had nothing to do with Gu Xi.
Letting his forces advance a bit slower was already doing them a favor.
At most, he'd give them the first move, then destroy the gate after they entered.
This was his way of repaying them for the news they had brought.
Jack and the others, however, had no idea what Gu Xi was thinking. After charging through Gu Xi's skeleton army, they picked up even more speed.
They were genuinely afraid that Gu Xi would destroy the Abandoned Stone Gate right then and there. If that happened, they wouldn't know where else to look for one of the Mirror Dungeon's six gates.
Just as Jack and his group were about to reach the Abandoned Stone Gate, a voice suddenly came from its direction.
"Don't come near!"
But Jack and the others paid no heed. Not only did they not stop, they sped up even more and slammed straight into the stone gate.
The moment they collided with it, the long-abandoned gate suddenly lit up. A thick layer of mercury appeared in the center of the gate, looking like a massive mirror standing before them.
Seeing this, Jack and his men truly believed they had found the legendary gate to the Mirror Dungeon. Without a second thought, they charged right in.
The next instant, Gu Xi saw a flash of white light before his eyes, and his surroundings completely changed.
He had been moved from the Underground Space to a patch of lawn outside the palace. At the far end of the lawn, where the Abandoned Gate had once stood, a weathered Guillotine now stood upright.
