Death City?
Gu Xi was startled by the prompt that appeared.
He clearly remembered learning in class that Death City, Death Lord, and Death Avatar were collectively known as the Necromancer's Three Divine Skills at the start.
Death Lord: All neutral Undead Creatures in the wilderness (excluding Black Knights and Mummies) would join the player's army. The initial joining rate was 50%, and for every level Death Lord increased, the joining rate rose by 2%.
With Death Lord, even if you had no troops left, you could take a stroll through a graveyard or an undead-themed game or dungeon, and by the time you returned, your army would be fully replenished. It was even faster than using Summoning to expand an army.
Death Avatar: The player could consume all mana to summon a Death Avatar onto the battlefield. The Death Avatar's level was the player's level +8, and at certain levels, it would gain various different traits.
For instance, at level 1, the Death Avatar had undead creature traits. At level 5, it gained Curse Attack. At level 9, it gained Non-Corporeal. At level 13, it gained Death Fear (all enemy morale -1). At level 17, it gained Grief Attack (target morale and luck -2 when attacking). At level 21, it gained Life Drain. At level 25, it gained Fatal Strike.
Bringing along a Death Avatar was equivalent to having a powerful bodyguard at your side. You could practically swagger wherever you pleased.
Since Death City could stand alongside those two overpowered skills as one of the Necromancer's Three Divine Skills at the start, it naturally had its own incredible strengths.
Death City: The player controlled a personal portable Undead City. The city's Level Cap was the player's level +8, and at certain levels, Death City would support the player in different ways.
For example, at Level 1, you could open Death City's City Gate and allow the Undead Army within to swiftly reinforce the player. At Level 5, you could deploy a Summoning Tower onto the battlefield to absorb battlefield souls and bolster the player's Summoning. At Level 9, you could directly send the city wall and moat onto the battlefield, and so on.
Starting out with Death City meant that the player was practically invincible in large-scale campaigns.
After all, he could turn a field battle into Siege Warfare at any time.
This was an extraordinarily powerful skill that even tens of thousands of Necromancers might not randomly obtain at the start.
Gu Xi had never imagined that he would encounter such an opportunity during his class advancement.
In his mind, simply successfully completing his advancement and returning would already count as accomplishing his task.
If he encountered Special Skills like Soul Hunter or Resurrection, that would already be a bonus.
But now, one of the Three Divine Skills lay before him, and Gu Xi's eyes turned red.
He drew his scimitar and raised it over his head. "Everyone, gather up and prepare for battle."
At Gu Xi's command, every Skeleton turned to look at him.
But Gu Xi had no time to pay attention to them. Instead, he took out the Ghoul Qi Beads he had recovered from the Skeleton Heads earlier and distributed them among the four Skeleton Heads.
"Strengthen yourselves quickly. We have a hard fight ahead. And don't just stand around—go tear down the nearby houses and set up Roadblocks. There may be many enemies. Don't let them get close."
The Skeleton Heads had originally wanted to hand over the Ghoul Qi Beads they had obtained in the previous battle to Gu Xi.
But seeing Gu Xi distribute the Ghoul Qi Beads directly, they simply kept theirs. All the Skeletons swiftly strengthened their weapons or bodies, while the Battle Squads that had lost Skeletons rapidly replenished their numbers from the stragglers.
After distributing everything, Gu Xi finally had time to inspect the troops under his command.
He discovered that while he had been inside the small building, these Skeletons had gone through a major battle.
The enemies' levels were relatively high, but they had very little combat experience.
They were not quite as slow-witted as the Black Robe Cultists they had killed earlier, who only reacted after being struck, but they were not much better.
They only attacked enemies blocking their path. If you did not stop them from advancing, they would not retaliate even if you hacked at them from behind.
At first, the Skeletons had blocked these Ghoul Shadows and clashed fiercely with them, losing more than twenty Skeletons.
Only after discovering how the Ghoul Shadows attacked did their losses gradually decrease.
But the losses from before could not be made up for. More importantly, these Ghoul Shadows left no corpses after death, making many of Gu Xi's methods unusable.
After all, many Necromancer skills required corpses.
Without corpses, Gu Xi could not even use Summoning, much less Corpse Explosion, the skill he was best at.
Watching the Skeletons bustle about, Gu Xi's expression grew somewhat grim.
Just then, a strange sound came from the other end of the street.
Gu Xi looked over and saw more than three hundred Black Shadows packed together, charging toward them.
These Black Shadows did not appear particularly unusual, but Gu Xi still noticed something different in their movements.
These Black Shadows were clearly more agile, and each of them carried some sort of weapon.
However, unlike what one might normally expect, the weapons in their hands were actually the limbs of other members of their kind.
Among this group stood one Black Shadow noticeably taller than the rest. He held a Long Spear made from more than a dozen arms.
It was obvious that he was the leader among the Black Shadows.
"Battle Squads, get ready. The rest of you Skeletons, what are you still standing around for? Finish the Roadblocks."
Gu Xi watched the direction and speed of the Black Shadow army's advance while ordering his subordinates to prepare for battle.
Having just absorbed another batch of Ghoul Qi Beads, the Battle Squads had not visibly increased in level, but their weapons, equipment, and bodies had all changed.
Some not-so-sturdy armor had even appeared on the Skeletons. The armor on the four leaders, in particular, was already fairly complete.
This alone showed that the Skeletons under Gu Xi's command were constantly growing.
"No corpses, then no corpses. This is only the beginning. As long as I can get started, that's enough. Even if every last one of them is spent here, I won't care as long as I can obtain a divine skill."
Gu Xi encouraged himself inwardly, then raised his head and pointed his scimitar forward.
"Battle Squad 3, Long Spears, advance!"
Under Gu Xi's command, Battle Squad 3 swiftly moved forward, reaching the unfinished roadblock.
This Battle Squad used Long Spears. Once they stopped, they quickly split into two rows and, under the Skeleton Head's command, leveled their Long Spears at the Black Shadows about to charge them.
"Thrust!"
