Standing in midair, Gu Xi resisted the urge to turn around and leave as he watched the Ghost Porters dig something out of the muddy ground.
When he saw it, Gu Xi could not help but freeze for a moment.
Just now, he had thought Purple Lightning Descent had failed to hit the equipment properly, allowing part of it to escape.
What the Ghost Porters had dug up might have been equipment fragments—blue or yellow shards, for instance—or perhaps a tangle of chaotic hair.
But Gu Xi had never expected the situation to be like this.
What lay before him was actually a gigantic stone-carved head.
Of course, if the Ghost Porters valued it so highly, it could not be an ordinary object.
Gu Xi floated above the stone head, which was taller than him, and circled it halfway, feeling rather puzzled.
The stone head before him did not seem like much.
Why had the Ghost Porters gathered here?
Wouldn't something like this normally be tossed straight into the fire and burned?
After hesitating for a moment, Gu Xi finally pinched his nose and flew down.
He tried his best not to land on the garbage.
As he descended before the stone head, Gu Xi finally got a clear look at it.
It was a marble head sculpted in the likeness of a woman.
Judging by its deep-set eyes and curly hair, it had probably once been a female statue or fountain sculpture.
As for why it had attracted Ghosts, Gu Xi did not know for the moment...
The instant Gu Xi's hand touched the sculpture, everything before his eyes went blank.
He then withdrew his hand, lowered his head for a careful look, glanced at the sculpture again, and reached out to press his hand against it once more.
