In just one day, they had figured out how to assemble the parts of the Illusion Magic Staff.
At the same time, they discovered something.
The Illusion Magic Staff was not a traditional long staff in the usual sense.
Its true core was actually the Energy Gem. Everything else merely existed to make the Illusion Magic Staff look like a staff.
Without the Energy Gem, the long staff was completely useless. With the Energy Gem, however, it made no difference whether there was a long staff or not.
The option for a long staff had appeared only because when Gu Xi obtained the Illusion Magic Staff, he had acquired half of an Orange Equipment piece used by a Phantom Magician who had advanced from a mage.
That was why he had gone down this path.
If Gu Xi had gotten the idea from a Phantom Magician who had advanced from a Necromancer, the Illusion Magic Staff might have taken the form of a One-Handed Sword or a dagger.
Or, if it had come from a priest who had become a Phantom Magician, the Illusion Magic Staff might have been shaped like a One-Handed Hammer.
In any case, the Energy Gem was the most crucial thing here, not any of the other components.
For that very reason, the Blacksmiths understood that how the parts were assembled was not important. What mattered was that nothing went wrong with the Energy Gem.
As long as the Energy Gem remained intact, even holding up a stick wrapped in strips of cloth counted as successfully crafting an Illusion Magic Staff.
As for whether it looked good, that did not matter at all. Once the crafting was
