These ships?
Gu Xi's heart stirred. Just as he was about to send his subordinates to tow all these ships away, Captain Klaw had already put away the anchor, lowered the sails, and set off.
Despite sailing against both the wind and the current, the ship still moved forward with remarkable ease.
Before Gu Xi could give any orders, it left the river channel ahead and entered another one.
"I..."
Gu Xi had wanted to say something, but the sight before him stunned him.
After rounding a bend in the river, they found numerous seated statues of gods carved into the cliff face. Every statue was as large as the Sobek Gu Xi had previously knocked down, and their clothing and weapons resembled Sobek's as well.
The one thing that left Gu Xi speechless was that every single god statue was headless.
At first, Gu Xi thought their heads had simply never been carved. But upon closer inspection, he saw obvious fracture marks at their necks. It was clear that the statues had originally possessed heads.
For some unknown reason, however, all those heads had been severed.
As the ship passed beneath the statues, Gu Xi lowered his head to look into the water, hoping to find stone heads that might have fallen from them.
Yet all he could see was a riverbed thick with aquatic grass. Occasionally, things like eyes or fingers appeared among the weeds.
But he did not see a single stone-carved head.
As Gu Xi observed the riverbed, the captain and sailors aboard the ship clearly sensed that something was wrong.
Captain Klaw shouted an order.
"Bring up all the nets, quickly."
Gu Xi looked puzzled. He had no idea what was happening.
Before he could say anything, the sailors had already set aside their work
