Ch. 223Barracks Observations

Gu Xi inspected the Barracks and learned that Withered Wood Lake was drawing Abominations into the Demon Plant Zone, where fighting had escalated. He watched the undead hold the City Gate and concluded that the clashes were manageable, while the Sewer-clearing expedition remained the Barracks’ more important focus.

  • Gu Xi checked the expeditions in the Demon Plant Zone and learned that Withered Wood Lake was attracting Abominations and causing nearby plants to become demonized and ghoulified.
  • Gu Xi told Luna to plan a City Gate between the Demon Plant Zone and the Main District, but Luna prioritized resource buildings and delayed construction.
  • Gu Xi reviewed the Sewer 3 expedition and realized that clearing the Sewers across the districts could lead to further developments.
  • Fu Gu reported that fighting in the Demon Plant Zone had escalated and deployed another Skeleton Spearman unit there.
  • Gu Xi watched the undead defend the Demon Plant Zone City Gate, with Skeleton Archers firing from an Arrow Tower and Dimi defeating powerful Abominations when necessary.
  • Gu Xi judged that the fighting was tying down scattered troops but posed no major threat, while the Death Avatar rested in the Dragonbone Laboratory.

Ch. 224Dungeon Plan

Gu Xi planned the Westminster Abbey dungeon expedition, setting out how his forces would use their limited attempts to scout it and prepare for a full clear. He then recorded five skills in the Lich Book before setting off to activate the dungeon.

  • Gu Xi told Fu Gu to monitor the Demon Plant Zone and notify him if the enemy committed more than a thousand troops.
  • Gu Xi explained to Luna and Shaya that the Westminster Abbey dungeon allowed five attempts, reserving three for scouting, one for a full assault, and one for emergencies.
  • Gu Xi laid out the dungeon’s scouting goals: map its enemies and allies, identify available tasks, and learn whether it could lead into Victoria City.
  • Gu Xi told Luna and Shaya to begin preparations and announced that he would leave the city in three hours to activate the dungeon.
  • Gu Xi recorded Summoning, White Bone Storm, Skeleton Priest, Wave of Death, and Magic Arrow in the Lich Book.

Ch. 225Miscellaneous Matters Before the Battle

Gu Xi left Aryadovi City with Shaya and her Vampire Esquires to visit the War Banner Design Studio. He chose Sunset Glow Red for his new banner and began directing the design, though its final appearance remained undecided.

  • Gu Xi questioned Shaya bringing Vampire Esquires, but she argued they were less conspicuous than his Bone Dragon and could provide protection.
  • Gu Xi left Aryadovi City with Shaya leading the way and the Vampire Esquires flying behind them as bats.
  • Gu Xi and Shaya traveled to the War Banner Design Studio on the Commercial Street near the Chaoyang Radiance Guild's base.
  • Gu Xi asked the Old Tailor to design a war banner and chose the guild's Sunset Glow Red.
  • Gu Xi asked about white and bright blue standard colors, then told the Old Tailor to start drawing and follow his color instructions.

Ch. 226Gu Xi's Battle Flag

Gu Xi worked with Old Tailor to design a battle flag that combined his Death City and Death Avatar divine skills. He settled on a black Bone Dragon with a white City Gate and his achievement insignias, then received three finished flags.

  • Old Tailor offered Gu Xi several classic battle flag designs for Death City and Death Avatar.
  • Gu Xi rejected the proposed designs and asked Old Tailor to draw according to his instructions.
  • Old Tailor explained that Death City used Nightfall Black and Death Avatar used ghastly white.
  • Gu Xi designed a large black Bone Dragon on a Sunset Glow Red flag, with a white City Gate at its chest.
  • Gu Xi added his Chief insignia and Undead Scourge Ritual Badge, and Old Tailor placed them inside a ring around the Bone Dragon's wings.
  • Old Tailor produced three finished battle flags and explained the cost of future adjustments.

Ch. 227Opening the Dungeon

Gu Xi applied to enter a Level 5 to 10 private dungeon despite being only Level 4, and used his Death City skill to convince the gatekeeper to let him enter alone. After the Dungeon Crystal activated, he stepped into the dungeon.

  • Gu Xi left the War Banner Design Studio with three banners and headed to the dungeon entrance plaza.
  • Gu Xi asked the administrator to open his private dungeon, and paid him to approve entry despite the level restriction.
  • The administrator directed Gu Xi to the black Teleportation Gate and warned him that the dungeon was dangerous.
  • Gu Xi showed the Stitched Monster his entry agreement and asked it to increase the activation energy by 23%.
  • Gu Xi sent Shaya and the Vampire Esquire back to Aryadovi City, and the Stitched Monster recognized his Death City skill and agreed to let him enter alone.
  • The Stitched Monster activated the Dungeon Crystal, and Gu Xi stepped into its glow.

Ch. 228Instance Mission

Gu Xi reached the defenses around Westminster Abbey and learned that the Grand Princess had entered the restricted area. The Grand Duke gave him a mission to find 20 Black Apple Flowers, and Gu Xi went back to Route 19 Bus Station to consider his exit options.

  • Soldiers stopped Gu Xi near Westminster Abbey until the Grand Duke recognized him and dismissed them.
  • The Grand Duke asked Gu Xi to find 20 Apple Tree flowers for his research, and Gu Xi accepted the mission for a skill-level reward.
  • The Grand Duke gave Gu Xi a pass to enter the streets and alleys outside the paladins' defensive line.
  • Gu Xi reviewed the forces guarding Westminster Abbey and decided to search for flowers before approaching them.
  • Gu Xi returned to Route 19 Bus Station and received the choice to leave by his original route or enter Victoria City.

Ch. 229Hope of Entering Victoria City

Gu Xi prepared to send Shaya and 500 undead into Victoria City, where she would secure their building and strengthen their foothold amid the city's turmoil. The chapter ended as Luna brought out the selected troops and their supplies.

  • Gu Xi had Shaya scout Route 19 Bus Station, where she found a route into Victoria City at a different point in time and reported that the city was in chaos.
  • Gu Xi told Shaya to protect their building in Victoria City, and she warned that undead taken out of the dungeon could not return.
  • Luna reported that Aryadovi City could spare 3,000 troops, but Gu Xi assigned Shaya 500 soldiers to preserve the city's defenses.
  • Shaya selected Ghosts, Defensive Type Zombies, Skeleton Spearmen, Withering Ones, Skeleton Mages, Corpse Poison Flies, and ordinary undead for her force.
  • Gu Xi instructed Shaya to use an owl to report, secure the connection between Aryadovi City and Victoria City, seek land, and look for tasks related to the Westminster Abbey Incident.
  • Luna returned from Aryadovi City with Shaya's selected troops, each carrying supplies.

Ch. 230Exploring the Instance Dungeon (72159)

Gu Xi led the Undead Army through the streets near Westminster Abbey to search for Black Apple Flowers and scout the instance dungeon. He encountered a possessed paladin who desperately wanted to die, and the Skeleton Two-handed Swordsman who killed him received the paladin’s gratitude and advanced into a warrior.

  • Gu Xi gave Shaya five hundred soldiers and supplies, then assembled another force of undead outside Route 19 Bus Station.
  • Gu Xi sent his army into the streets near Westminster Abbey to search for Black Apple Flowers while Luna dispatched Skeletons to salvage the collapsed houses.
  • Gu Xi’s troops searched about ten streets but found only miscellaneous junk and no useful items.
  • A possessed paladin attacked Gu Xi with a white light, and Gu Xi countered with Magic Arrows.
  • The paladin resisted his own urge to fight and exposed his neck, allowing a Skeleton Two-handed Swordsman to kill him.
  • The Skeleton Two-handed Swordsman received the paladin’s gratitude, advanced to Warrior, and learned Holy Light Slash.

Ch. 231Hidden Map (73159)

Gu Xi investigated the street where paladins had fought the Apple Tree’s roots and discovered tunnels the cultists had used to guide the roots underground. Exploring the passages revealed a hidden dungeon map, the Underground Mausoleum, and Gu Xi began considering how to proceed before its twelve-hour deadline.

  • Gu Xi found more than a dozen paladin corpses and three severed vines, collected a Black Apple Flower, and sent the corpses to the Route 19 Bus Station.
  • Gu Xi ordered Luna to send Ghosts and Corpse Poison Flies into the pits, where they discovered the severed roots below.
  • Gu Xi led his undead through the tunnels and inferred that cultists had used blood and special energy to draw the Apple Tree’s roots underground.
  • Gu Xi discovered the hidden dungeon map, Underground Mausoleum, and learned he had twelve hours to find the Crown of the Sacred Tree.
  • Gu Xi considered how to move the trapped roots without collapsing the tunnels.

Ch. 232Pea Treasure Chest

Gu Xi used an Assimilating Pea to clear a passage through the apple tree roots and found an entrance to a flooded underground mausoleum. After opening a Pea Treasure Chest and descending, he learned he had 11 hours to locate the Crown of the Sacred Tree before the hidden map closed.

  • Gu Xi asked Luna whether the undead could dig through the apple tree roots, but she said it would take too long.
  • Gu Xi grafted an Assimilating Pea onto a severed root, and its vines opened a narrow passage while Luna sent the other troops back to Aryadovi City.
  • Gu Xi ran through the passage with the Corpse Poison Flies and found a pit leading to the underground mausoleum, which had flooded.
  • Gu Xi opened a Pea Treasure Chest and obtained four Pea Grenades, a Fairy Bean, and a socketable Jade Pea.
  • Gu Xi grabbed a vine and descended into the mausoleum, where he received an 11-hour deadline to find the Crown of the Sacred Tree.

Ch. 233The Tomb Submerged in Water

Gu Xi crossed the flooded underground mausoleum on the Evil Coffin, using White Bone Storm to break through illusions created by Yin Energy. He reached a crack in the wall where the wind and Apple Tree roots emerged, and sent Luna and a squad of Ghosts ahead to investigate while he examined murals identifying the buried princess as the “Northern Flower.”

  • Gu Xi floated across the flooded mausoleum on the Evil Coffin and used White Bone Storm to test the apparitions of Standing Floating Corpses.
  • Gu Xi recognized the drowned-ghost apparitions as illusions caused by Yin Energy and continued following the wind, ignoring them and clearing the way with repeated White Bone Storms.
  • Gu Xi cast Flame Trap at the black hair but found that the traps could not trigger, then resumed his journey across the water.
  • After nearly twenty minutes, Gu Xi reached a seven- or eight-meter-wide crack in the mausoleum wall, where the wind blew out and Apple Tree roots remained visible.
  • Gu Xi sent Luna and a squad of Ghosts through the crack to check what lay beyond, then examined murals that identified the buried princess as the “Northern Flower.”

Ch. 234BOSS's Attention

Gu Xi discovered a vast root ball covered in Black Apple Flowers beyond a crack in the mausoleum and sent Gargoyles to harvest them. As the roots began to stir, he drew the attention of dungeon BOSS Spore Cultist Charlie.

  • Gu Xi read fragments of a mural describing the Flower of the North, a Necromancer who had inherited Britain's throne and later entered slumber in the mausoleum.
  • Gu Xi spotted countless Black Apple Flowers and Red Silk Threads among an enormous root ball beyond the mausoleum wall.
  • Gu Xi sent Luna back to Alidovi and summoned Gargoyles and an Undead Army to gather the flowers.
  • Gu Xi had Luna release Corpse Poison Flies to distract the Red Silk Threads, letting the Gargoyles pluck more than thirty Black Apple Flowers.
  • A huge root began to pull free from the root ball, and Gu Xi received a warning that dungeon BOSS Spore Cultist Charlie had noticed him.

Ch. 235VS Spore Cultist Charlie

Gu Xi discovered that the Apple Tree roots belonged to the level 12 Final Boss, Spore Cultist Charlie, and used his Skeleton Mages to drain the boss’s mana and reveal its attributes. He began testing the boss’s defenses, but its roots overwhelmed his troops, leaving Gu Xi to order a retreat.

  • Gu Xi placed Flame Traps and withdrew his Gargoyles and Corpse Poison Flies while preparing his Undead Army to fight the Apple Tree roots.
  • The Skeleton Mages drained mana from Spore Cultist Charlie, and Gu Xi saw the boss’s information, including its powerful skills and doubled strength if the surface Apple Tree was destroyed.
  • Gu Xi ordered the Skeleton Archers and Skeleton Mages to attack the roots, but their volleys inflicted only minor damage.
  • The Apple Tree roots surged forward, and the Skeleton Spearmen could barely damage them before the roots smashed through their ranks.
  • Gu Xi ordered his troops to retreat.

Ch. 236The Warriors’ Tomb

Gu Xi reached the core of the underground mausoleum and discovered Flower of the North’s enormous coffin, guarded by hundreds of powerful Undead. He summoned his army and prepared to fight as the awakened defenders formed up around him.

  • Gu Xi escaped Spore Cultist Charlie’s pursuit after a Flame Trap severed one of its Main Roots, then the Evil Coffin carried him through turbulent water to the Warrior’s Tomb.
  • Gu Xi entered the tomb and landed in a cleared space beside Flower of the North’s coffin, where the smaller guardian coffins stood around it.
  • More than a hundred sleeping Undead awoke and summoned reinforcements until their army numbered nearly five hundred.
  • Gu Xi summoned the City Gate and deployed his forces, identifying enemy groups led by Heroes and noticing a formidable band of Ghost Maids.
  • Gu Xi ordered his Skeleton Mages to use Mana Drain.

Ch. 237Gu Xi Takes the Initiative

Gu Xi took the initiative against the surrounding undead, using his troops and spells to hold off enemy forces while targeting the nearby Ghost Maids. After trapping the Ghost Maids inside their own defensive formation, he summoned Death Avatar to exploit their tight grouping.

  • Gu Xi spotted hidden Heroes when the Skeleton Mages began Extract Mana, then positioned his Zombie Axe Shields, archers, and mages against the enemy cavalry.
  • Gu Xi sent his Skeleton Spearmen to hold back the largest undead force while he turned to the Ghost Maids closest to him.
  • Gu Xi tested Magic Arrow against the Ghost Maids, then used White Bone Storm to destroy several and hit their formation from both sides.
  • A hidden Ghost Hero changed color, raised a Defense Shield, and gathered the Ghost Maids together as they charged toward Gu Xi.
  • Gu Xi summoned Death Avatar from Dragonbone Laboratory, bringing the black Bone Dragon onto the battlefield.

Ch. 238The Strongest Knight Squad

Gu Xi used Death Avatar to wipe out the Ghost Maids, then turned to the Skeleton Soldiers as Flower of the North’s elite Knights charged the Zombie Axe Shields. Gu Xi’s traps and the Undead Army stopped the leading Knight, but the rest of the charge was still underway.

  • Ghost Maid underestimated Death Avatar, whose widened Death Dragon Breath shattered the Ghost Maids’ Defense Shield and killed them all.
  • Gu Xi ordered Death Avatar to attack the Skeleton Soldiers, and it flew toward them using its remaining powers and curses.
  • Twenty elite Knights charged the Zombie Axe Shields with powerful stacked buffs, threatening to inflict heavy casualties.
  • Gu Xi drank a Magic Potion and cast Undead Tendrils to hinder the Knights, but the leading Knight’s horse leaped over them.
  • The leading Knight triggered Gu Xi’s Flame Trap, and Skeleton Archer and Skeleton Mage ordered their troops to focus fire.
  • A Knight collided with the fallen leader, leaving him exposed to the barrage; he was blasted into the Undead Tendrils and died.

Ch. 239The Gains from Summoning

Gu Xi struggled to hold off the knights and Ghosts, using Luna and White Bone Storms to turn the fight against the enemy Ghosts. After repeated failed attempts to summon the fallen Ghosts, he successfully summoned a Level 0 Zombie Warrior from the knights’ direction.

  • The knights regrouped into a Double-Headed Snake formation and charged Gu Xi’s Zombie Axe Shield Soldiers while the enemy Ghosts attacked him.
  • Gu Xi’s White Bone Storms failed to contain the Ghosts, and the charging knights cut down his Zombie Axe Shield Soldiers.
  • Luna returned with her Ghosts and slowed the enemy, then helped push them into Gu Xi’s White Bone Storms.
  • Gu Xi summoned a Skeleton Priest to support his Ghosts, and the White Bone Storms killed many of the enemy Ghosts.
  • After his attempts to summon the fallen Ghosts failed, Gu Xi cast Summoning toward the knights and obtained a Level 0 Zombie Warrior.

Ch. 240The Battle Winds Down

Gu Xi’s undead gained the upper hand across the battlefields, killing the Ghost Hero and wiping out the enemy’s other undead forces. The remaining six wounded knights were surrounded as Gu Xi ordered his forces to finish them off.

  • A Zombie Warrior pinned a Mercury Transformed Knight and killed him, reaching Level 7, though Gu Xi missed the notifications amid the battle.
  • Gu Xi used White Bone Storm while Luna helped disrupt the enemy Ghosts, and Luna killed the Ghost Hero before bringing his fallen battle flag to Gu Xi.
  • Gu Xi sent the Bonecleaver Battalion and his last Battle Squad against the enemy Skeleton Soldiers while the Death Avatar held them in place, and the enemy undead were wiped out.
  • The six surviving knights had lost their warhorses and were severely injured, while more than five hundred Zombie Axe Shield Soldiers had died fighting them.
  • Gu Xi ordered his forces to bite the six remaining knights to death.

Ch. 241Summoning Two Heroes

Gu Xi's undead defeated the last six knights, and he summoned 164 new undead from the battlefield's corpses, including two Heroes. He decided to assign Robbie to the Bonecleaver Battalion and Arroyo to lead Skeleton Spearmen.

  • Gu Xi's undead killed the last six knights after a fierce battle, while Gu Xi used Summoning on the fallen corpses.
  • Gu Xi raised 164 undead, including 89 warriors, 25 Elites, 18 chiefs, and two Heroes.
  • Gu Xi examined Robbie, a Skeleton Hero whose Two-handed Sword Mastery could strengthen soldiers under his command.
  • Gu Xi examined Arroyo, a poison-bearing Zombie Hero whose talent improved Spearmen and glaive infantry.
  • Gu Xi planned to attach Robbie to the Bonecleaver Battalion and have Arroyo command Skeleton Spearmen.

Ch. 242Powerful Hero with Leader Potential

Gu Xi summoned Amirka, an undead Hero with Leader Potential and strong troop-commanding abilities, from a fallen knight. After the Warrior Mausoleum battle ended, he received a Crimson Temple blueprint that could train Bloody Knights.

  • Gu Xi used Summoning on five fallen knights while the final knight continued fighting.
  • A skeletal warhorse and the Hero Amirka rose, and the last knight charged at Amirka in a furious attempt to kill him.
  • Gu Xi identified Amirka as a pure Commander-type Hero, though his available troops were limited to knights, Black Guards, and Black Warriors.
  • Gu Xi's undead killed the final knight, ending the Warrior Mausoleum battle and earning him 5,000 Negative Energy and a Warrior Treasure Chest.
  • Gu Xi opened the chest and obtained a Crimson Temple blueprint, which would allow him to train two Bloody Knights each week.
