Ch. 623Demon-Sacrificing Camp

Gu Xi’s forces defeated the Demonized Giant Centipede, and the Nether Soul Dragon grew stronger after swallowing a blue sphere from its body. Gu Xi sent Arroyo into the Wild Temple, named Yong Dou’s unit the Demon Offering Camp, and prepared to move on as Chi Mu offered him a gift.

  • The Bonecleaver Battalion stripped the centipede’s shell and seized its severed legs to use as swords while the Bone Titan and Nether Soul Dragon finished it off.
  • The Nether Soul Dragon swallowed a blue sphere from the centipede, changed to a nether-blue color, and killed it with Soul-Stealing Dragon Breath.
  • Gu Xi ordered Arroyo to secure the Wild Temple and Yong Dou to dismantle the altar, then rewarded Yong Dou with the Bronze Box and named his unit the Demon Offering Camp.
  • Arroyo reported that the Wild Temple was safe, and Gu Xi told Chi Mu he could leave.
  • Chi Mu thanked Gu Xi for saving his life and presented him with a small token of thanks.

Ch. 624Harvest from the Wild Temple of Yellow Springs

Gu Xi accepted Chi Mu’s Wine Transformation Jar and led the freed souls into Aryadovi City. After exploring the Wild Temple and offering the centipede’s mana to its statue, he received Yellow Springs’ protection.

  • Chi Mu gave Gu Xi a Wine Transformation Jar containing recipes for several kinds of Blood Wine.
  • The freed souls returned to Gu Xi and entered the Steel City Gate, earning him 7,102 Wandering Souls and Death Lord experience.
  • Gu Xi entered the Wild Temple and watched its statue fling Chi Mu out of Yellow Springs Road.
  • Gu Xi ordered Yong Dou to bring the centipede’s unprocessed mana to the statue as an offering.
  • The Wild Temple granted Gu Xi double movement speed in Yellow Springs for 24 hours.

Ch. 625Battle for the Mining Zone

Gu Xi led his army to the Shattered Scale Stone Mine and prepared to confront the organized undead force excavating there. As the enemy reached the Steel City Gate, he ordered Yong Dou to use Mana Drain.

  • Gu Xi reviewed the earlier battle with Grand Princess Anna while his troops advanced toward the Shattered Scale Stone Mine.
  • Seeing the mine actively worked, Gu Xi sent Lewis and a Ghost Squad to lure its defenders away while he arranged his forces around three City Gates.
  • Gu Xi climbed the Summoning Tower to oversee the battlefield as Grand Princess Anna used a Water Mirror to inspect the pursuing undead.
  • Gu Xi identified the enemy as the Stacked Bone Battalion of the Steel Skeleton Guild First Pioneering Group, led by an Undead Hero.
  • As the enemy reached the Steel City Gate and Arroyo's Black Spear Camp prepared to charge, Gu Xi ordered Yong Dou to cast Mana Drain.

Ch. 626The Great Battlefield

Gu Xi’s forces used mana-draining and slowing rituals to disrupt the charging undead, then attacked their vulnerable units. The enemy Undead Hero was struck down as the battle continued.

  • Yong Dou drained the mana of the enemy’s Skeleton Mages, Vampires, and Undead Hero, allowing Gu Xi’s Skeleton Archers to pin down the Vampires with arrows.
  • Lewis led his Ghost Squad against the Skeleton Archers, while Arroyo charged the enemy Skeleton Soldiers with the Black Spear Camp.
  • The Black Spear Camp’s repeated spear thrusts brought down Skeleton Cavalry and cut through the Skeleton Soldiers as the Bonecleaver Battalion advanced behind them.
  • Yong Dou cast Slow Spell, immobilizing the enemy Zombies and slowing the Skeleton Soldiers so the Black Spear Camp could attack more freely.
  • A lightning-crackling White Bone Spear struck the enemy Undead Hero and pinned him to the ground.

Ch. 627Two Identical Heroes

Gu Xi summoned the enemy dead and gained the Level 4 Undead Hero Diegu, then learned that his Dual Death talent had also revived the defeated Stacked Bone Battalion in Aryadovi City. The revived force included a stronger Kaja Diegu, and Gu Xi wondered what might happen if both Heroes led troops together.

  • Gu Xi summoned undead from the battlefield, including the Level 4 Undead Hero Diegu, and ordered him to organize troops and lure away the enemy while Lewis retreated to the City Gate.
  • Gu Xi asked Aryadovi City what had been added, then saw the defeated Stacked Bone Battalion march out through the Main City Gate as undead revived through his Dual Death talent.
  • The revived troops followed Kaja Diegu, a Level 8 Hero with the same Bone Armor talent and a stronger set of skills than Diegu.
  • Gu Xi realized that Kaja Diegu was Diegu's growth path and considered whether the two Heroes could produce a different effect by leading troops together.

Ch. 628Repetitive Hero

Gu Xi sent Kaja to flank an enemy force, hoping to test whether Kaja and Diegu could fight together as a new Twin Battalion. As Kaja charged toward the Steelbone Battalion, Gu Xi positioned his other troops and Yong Dou prepared new Ritual Magic.

  • Kaja sensed that Diegu was nearby and proposed attacking the enemy from the flank while Diegu lured them out of the mine.
  • Gu Xi agreed to test their cooperation and promised to form a Twin Battalion with Kaja in command if the plan worked.
  • Grand Princess Anna considered killing another version of herself in the Westminster Abbey dungeon to create a group of undead Grand Princess Annas.
  • Kaja charged ahead, and Grand Princess Anna remarked that reckless heroes were best assigned to battle.
  • Gu Xi ordered Yong Dou to use Ritual Magic to Extract Mana and slow the enemy, while directing Arroyo and the other forces to prepare for combat.
  • Kaja reached the Steelbone Battalion, a force of metallic Skeletons armed with heavy melee weapons.

Ch. 629The Troops Charging Fearlessly Ahead

Kaja prepared his undead troops with layered defenses and launched them into the Steelbone Battalion, while Gu Xi sent the Black Spear Camp into the battle. As an enemy flying Undead Army swooped toward the Summoning Tower, Gu Xi ordered Yong Dou to use Slow Spell and Ice Storm.

  • Kaja layered the charging undead with Bone Shield, Thorns Aura, and Vampire's Touch before attacking.
  • Kaja's Vampires teleported into the Steelbone Battalion's rear, disrupting its formation as the Skeleton Cavalry charged.
  • Diegu turned back to fight, and Gu Xi released the Black Spear Camp while Arroyo led his troops into a full-force charge.
  • Yong Dou abandoned Mana Drain and prepared Slow Spell, hoping for a chance to cast Ice Storm.
  • An enemy flying Undead Army swooped toward Gu Xi's position, and Gu Xi told Yong Dou to bring it down with Slow Spell and follow with Ice Storm.

Ch. 630Flying Corps

Gu Xi’s forces broke the Headwind Battalion’s aerial assault with dragons and Yong Dou’s ritual magic. As the enemy Flying Troops were grounded and destroyed, Robbie led the Bonecleaver Battalion into the attack, which reached the rear of the Black Spear Camp as Yong Dou cast a third ritual.

  • The Headwind Battalion’s Hero led its Flying Troops in a dive toward Gu Xi, who raised bone defenses and sent thirty Black Dragons and thirty-four Red Dragons to meet them.
  • The enemy Hero cast Group Acceleration, but Yong Dou’s Slow Spell overwhelmed it and caused most of the Flying Troops to crash to the ground.
  • The Black Dragons’ combined breath destroyed hundreds of Ghosts, and Yong Dou’s Ice Storm slaughtered the grounded Flying Troops and wiped out the Ghost Squad.
  • Robbie charged with the Bonecleaver Battalion and ordered his soldiers to use Execution on enemies they could reach.
  • The Bonecleaver Battalion cut through the fallen Flying Troops and neared the rear of the Black Spear Camp as Yong Dou’s third Ritual Magic descended.

Ch. 631Two Consecutive Victories

Gu Xi’s forces defeated the Headwind Battalion and Steelbone Battalion, though the costly battle left his troops depleted and his Summoning yielded no Heroes. Dual Death then produced two new armies and their Heroes, Dali and Mido, setting Gu Xi up to rebuild his forces.

  • Yong Dou cast Ice Ring, freezing Flying Troops and allies alike, then prepared to test Mana Drain but lost his targets when Robbie killed the Flying Troops’ Hero and finished the Headwind Battalion.
  • The Black Spear Camp and Kaja’s and Diegu’s forces defeated the Steelbone Battalion at heavy cost to Gu Xi’s side.
  • Gu Xi ordered Kaja to reorganize and absorb Diegu’s troops, sent Arroyo and Robbie back to recover, and called for Aryadovi City to dispatch newly produced troops.
  • Gu Xi used the Summoning Tower on both battlefields but raised only ordinary Skeletons and Ghosts, not the dead Heroes.
  • Dual Death produced replicas of the Steelbone Battalion and Headwind Battalion, including the Heroes Dali and Mido.

Ch. 632Taking Over the Mine

Gu Xi assigned Dali and Mido roles suited to their abilities, then led his forces to Scale Shard Mine after Kaja reported its capture. He claimed the mine and ordered its ore transported back to Aryadovi City.

  • Gu Xi asked Dali about strengthening Skeleton Soldiers and agreed to arrange a specialized building if the Corpse Bone Gold Paint formula proved useful.
  • Gu Xi judged Mido better suited to transportation than combat and reassigned him from leading Flying Troops.
  • Kaja reported that Scale Shard Mine had been captured, and Gu Xi led his main force there with thirty Black Dragons and thirty-four Red Dragons.
  • Gu Xi inspected the Scale Shard Ore and learned it could reinforce buildings against Siege Weapons.
  • Gu Xi ordered Kaja to plant the Soul Gathering Ground's battle flag and directed his troops to carry all the ore back to the city.

Ch. 633An Unexpected Use for the Gray-Grade Supreme Item

Gu Xi and Luna discussed using gray Champion's Fighting Will to improve Aryadovi City's roads and other structures, while the troops cleared the Scale Shard Ore Mine and rested. Kaja then guided Diegu toward the Blood Cow path to strengthen their forces, leaving Diegu set to complement Kaja rather than compete for the main Hero role.

  • Luna told Gu Xi that an architect had found that mixing Champion's Fighting Will into soil could raise the quality of a long road, and Gu Xi suggested using it for walls and Arrow Towers as well.
  • Gu Xi and Luna watched the troops finish transporting all the Scale Shard Ore from the Mine, and Gu Xi ordered the troops to camp and rest.
  • Gu Xi assigned newly converted Level 4 Skeleton Soldiers to Arroyo's Black Spear Camp, and Arroyo adjusted his Tactics to train them.
  • Kaja took Diegu aside and chose the Blood Cow path for him so their troops could gain more health and make better use of Thorns Aura and Vampire's Touch.

Ch. 634Before the Earth Demon Cave

Gu Xi reached the Earth Demon Cave and prepared to face its heavily armored, slow-moving monsters. He tested Mana Drain and Wave of Death against them, then discovered that Death Wizards could greatly extend the spell’s range.

  • After handing the Scale Shard Mine over to the Soul Gathering Ground, Gu Xi led his troops to the Earth Demon Cave.
  • Gu Xi found monster camps about fifty li from the cave, where the monsters dressed themselves in tents and cooking pots before charging.
  • Gu Xi ordered Yong Dou to use Mana Drain and Blood Loss Curse, but Mana Drain gathered almost no mana from the monsters.
  • Gu Xi summoned Death Wizards, sent the Red Dragons back into Aryadovi City, and tested Wave of Death near the Steel City Gate.
  • Gu Xi moved the Death Wizards forward and cast Wave of Death again, extending its reach roughly seven hundred meters beyond the Steel City Gate.

Ch. 635The Tenacious Yasha

Gu Xi's forces fought the Bone-Eating Yakshas at the Steel City Gate, discovering that the monsters fled from large armies but returned when joined by their companions. Yong Dou's Slow Spell let the Black Spear Camp pin down the yakshas and kill one, while Gu Xi's Wave of Death struck the rest.

  • Yong Dou's Blood Loss Curse wounded the charging Bone-Eating Yaksha, but the creature withstood the magic and fled when Arroyo led the Black Spear Camp toward it.
  • Gu Xi realized the yakshas fled from large armies and ordered Yong Dou to use Slow Spell, while his attempt to extend his spells through Death Wizards failed at their two-hundred-meter limit.
  • The fleeing yaksha returned with its companions, so Gu Xi sent out the Bonecleaver Battalion and ordered Kaja to guard the Steel City Gate's front.
  • Yong Dou's Slow Spell slowed the yakshas, allowing the Black Spear Camp to thrust their Long Spears into them as Arroyo ordered his troops to push forward.
  • The Black Spear Camp killed its first Bone-Eating Yaksha, and Gu Xi's Wave of Death engulfed the yakshas near the City Gate.

Ch. 636Yaksha Strikes

Gu Xi’s undead struggled against the yakshas’ high defenses until Slow Spell and coordinated attacks turned the battle in their favor. A new force led by a Chief arrived, and Gu Xi and the Death Wizards prepared to strike it with Undead Tendrils.

  • Gu Xi ordered Yong Dou to slow the yakshas and sent his troops forward to surround them, while Yong Dou warned that he needed to hit enemies to satisfy his Demon Offering Camp’s sacrifice requirement.
  • Gu Xi told Yong Dou to use Ice Storm after stabilizing Slow Spell and warned him to find a lasting solution to the sacrifice requirement.
  • Gu Xi’s Skeleton Sea overwhelmed the slowed yakshas as the Undead Headmen focused their attacks and Robbie’s Bonecleaver Battalion used Execution to kill them quickly.
  • A new force of around three hundred yakshas charged in with a tattooed, blue-green Chief carrying a heavy-backed blade.
  • Yong Dou struck the new force with Ice Storm, and Gu Xi ordered the Death Wizards to use Undead Tendrils with him.

Ch. 637Painted-Skin Yaksha

Gu Xi used Undead Tendrils and Yong Dou’s Slow Spell to pin down the charging yakshas, then reinforced his forces with troops from Aryadovi City. A spell sweep exposed Painted-Skin Yakshas infiltrating his ranks, and Gu Xi ordered their destruction before turning back to the enemies outside.

  • Gu Xi and the Death Wizards tripped the yakshas with Undead Tendrils, while Yong Dou completed Slow Spell to keep the fallen enemies under control.
  • Gu Xi summoned the Ghost Squad and Maze Devourers from Aryadovi City to reinforce and defend his forces.
  • Gu Xi ordered Yong Dou to sweep the surrounding area with Slow Spell, revealing undead impostors hidden among his troops.
  • Gu Xi's forces attacked the infiltrators and killed several, identifying them as Painted-Skin Yakshas.
  • Gu Xi ordered his troops to cast Wave of Death, clear out the Painted-Skin Yakshas, and then attack the yakshas outside.

Ch. 638Clearing the Battlefield

Gu Xi reorganized his forces under Grand Princess Anna’s guidance, defeated the yaksha assault, and raised the fallen enemies as Zombies. He left the battlefield to regroup his troops and review the battle with his heroes.

  • Grand Princess Anna told Gu Xi that he had given his heroes too much freedom and needed to keep his forces under tighter control.
  • Gu Xi sent Evil Bone Locust swarms to patrol the three City Gates and gave the Black Dragon ten minutes to kill the remaining yakshas.
  • Gu Xi rearranged the three City Gates into an inverted triangle and repositioned his rear troops so they could support the whole battlefield.
  • Gu Xi’s forces killed Green Skin · Bone Bolt and Stealth · Yin Painting, earning him Reputation and Blue Equipment from both BOSSes.
  • Gu Xi summoned souls from the battlefield, turned the yaksha corpses into Zombies, and sent them to Aryadovi City for equipment.
  • Gu Xi called his heroes together to replenish their troops and review the battle with Grand Princess Anna’s advice in mind.

Ch. 639Preparations for the Great Battle

Gu Xi prepared for an assault on the Earth Demon Cave by studying Yaksha equipment, choosing a forward position, and organizing scouts, weapons, and temporary walls. After letting his soldiers rest overnight, he sent Kaja ahead and followed with the main army toward the Yakshas’ former camp.

  • Gu Xi inspected the Yakshas’ Mobile Tents and had Architects dismantle them to study their materials and construction knowledge.
  • Gu Xi decided to move the battlefield several thousand meters forward, positioning his army near the Earth Demon Cave to provoke the Yakshas into attacking on his terms.
  • Gu Xi sent Gargoyles to scout the Yakshas while the Blacksmith Shop and Barracks armory re-equipped the Undead Army.
  • The Architects used the Yakshas’ tent designs as inspiration to develop temporary City Walls that could be dismantled and assembled quickly.
  • Gu Xi let the soldiers rest overnight, then ordered Kaja to lead the troops ahead as the main army followed toward the Yakshas’ former camp.

Ch. 640The Great Battle Begins

Gu Xi sent Kaja and Diegu’s armored troops toward the Earth Demon Cave, using the advance to draw out the Yakshas while Lewis and Dali moved to raid the forces’ vacated locations. As the battle turned chaotic, Mido’s Zombies prepared the ground for a city wall, and Gu Xi deployed three City Gates before leading his troops forward.

  • Kaja and Diegu integrated their troops and advanced with twelve layers of bone armor, while Mido led the Zombies behind them and Gu Xi’s main force followed.
  • The Yakshas noticed Gu Xi’s advance on the Earth Demon Cave and rushed out to intercept his troops.
  • Gu Xi sent Lewis with more than five hundred Ghost Squad members and Dali with one thousand Skeleton Soldiers toward two Yaksha-held locations.
  • Kaja and Diegu split their forces to engage the Yakshas, while the pet-owning Yakshas’ dogs triggered Thorns Aura and threw the battlefield into chaos.
  • Mido directed the Zombies to clear the ground and dig a foundation for the city wall as Gu Xi’s main force reached the battlefield.
  • Gu Xi deployed three City Gates, positioned Yong Dou, and led his troops toward the Yakshas.

Ch. 641The Siege Turns into a Defense

Gu Xi’s forces built a defensive wall around the battlefield and lured the Yakshas into a deadly trap. With Yong Dou’s Ice Storm and Slow Spell weakening them, the undead slaughtered nearly all the Yakshas who had tried to stop Gu Xi’s advance.

  • Gu Xi’s undead built a fifteen-meter-high wall around the three City Gates while Kaja’s troops held the Yakshas back.
  • Yong Dou began an Ice Storm ritual, killing some of the Yakshas’ pets as sacrifices and striking the enemy troops.
  • Gu Xi ordered Kaja and Diegu to draw the Yakshas toward his forces, where the Bonecleaver Battalion and other undead attacked them from all sides.
  • The undead used their numbers and higher levels to kill the Yakshas as they entered the enclosed battlefield.
  • Yong Dou cast Slow Spell on the Yakshas, and Gu Xi’s forces slaughtered nearly all of them.
  • Grand Princess Anna told Gu Xi’s forces to hold steady and not panic.

Ch. 642The Gray Yaksha Airborne Unit

Gu Xi defended his newly enclosed battlefield from the Yakshas' flying troops by raising a White Bone Canopy and unleashing his Death Wizards' magic. The Gray Yakshas were largely wiped out, and one scarecrow gained blood armor as the battle continued.

  • Gu Xi ordered his troops to fall back inside, placed a Summoning Tower, and summoned Death Wizards to reinforce the city wall with White Bone Canopy.
  • Flying Yakshas appeared, but the canopy slowed them and gave the scarecrows time to ensnare some with nets and attack them with crows.
  • Gu Xi summoned more Death Wizards and used Wave of Death, killing more than half of the flying Yakshas and identifying them as Gray Yakshas.
  • The scarecrows attacked the surviving Gray Yakshas, and one scarecrow formed a suit of blood armor from the bloody water dripping through its straw body.
