"Ms. Daly?"
Angel was somewhat puzzled. Daly had appeared in this form at her home last night as well, but there had been eerie green flames in the living room then, as if they were inside a nightmare woven by a Nightmare.
That Nightmare was even still outside, with no time to drive away!
The translucent face did not answer. Instead, it parted its lips, revealing a bright red tongue covered in irregular sharp teeth. Its tip had five slender fingers like a human hand, clutching a folded letter.
A letter... Was this a messenger? Daly's messenger?
Angel immediately understood. She turned to look at Dunn, who was preparing to drive away on the street, then shut the door before reaching out to take the letter.
Its task complete, the messenger's five fingers waved happily a few times, as though saying goodbye. Then, along with the entire tongue, it retracted into its mouth and drifted into the wall. Accompanied by ripples of translucent water, it vanished from the living room.
Hmm, it wasn't waiting for my reply?
She looked doubtfully in the direction the messenger had left, deactivated Spirit Vision, and the living room, which had glowed white in her sight, returned to its normal colors.
Worried about starting a fire and unwilling to light the gas lamp, Angel could only rely on the moonlight and her own night vision. Sitting on the sofa beside the bay window, she unfolded the letter and read the message sent by that remarkable Spirit Channeling.
"If you can see this letter, it means tonight's operation should have gone smoothly, and you successfully survived. That reassures me greatly. After all, I no longer need to act as a Corpse Collector."
The very first sentence made Angel frown.
What an awful way of showing concern...
