This refined lady called herself Lola, a common name in the Loen Kingdom. Angel even suspected it might be an alias, which would certainly affect the divination, but she decided to hear the lady out first.
"I'd like a love reading." Lola raised a hand to cover her mouth, though it did little to hide her smug smile. "I've been terribly troubled lately. I simply don't know which of my suitors to choose."
Suitors? Plural?
Angel had a bad feeling as soon as she heard that.
"Of my two main suitors, one is Baron Fanes. He lost his lands in a family upheaval a few years ago and kept only his title, but he inherited several factories and plantations from his father. He's quite well-off, and he's pursued me more ardently than anyone."
As though she hadn't noticed Angel's awkward expression, Lola went on. Her beautiful, lake-blue eyes grew dreamy, as if she were recalling every moment she had spent with the Baron.
"The other is just as hard to give up. His name is Stuart, and he's a captain in the Kingdom Army. Despite his youth, he distinguished himself in the war on the Southern Continent... Hmm, he said it was on the Balam East Coast. Where is that, Feysac?" She frowned, trying to dredge up her geography lessons, then quickly gave up. "Anyway, he earned merit in the war, and they say he'll soon be a major. A major at his age!"
Lola's lovely eyes filled with distress, as though she were choosing between two equally priceless jewels.
"Who should I choose? Perhaps I should listen to my father and court Baron Fanes. Or perhaps I should let my body choose and follow my heart..."
What a clichéd love story. And a messy one at that... Angel thought
