A gigantic black canine blotted out the sky. Its forelegs were stretched out, exposing sharp claws. Its mouth hung half-open, two rows of keen teeth dark red, as though they had been soaked in blood for a long time.

"Watch out!"

Worried that Moriarty would be unable to see the incoming black dog in the dark alley, Angel shouted and summoned two sharp-tipped Ice Spikes. One end braced against the ground while the other pointed toward the sky. She herself took two steps back, leaving the black dog's pouncing range.

Moriarty reacted quickly as well. Abandoning all dignity, he rolled in the other direction. His flat cap fell to the ground, and his short black hair became disheveled in the motion.

Seeing two humans in the alley, the huge black dog was even more surprised than the two people it had attacked. Its hind legs kicked against a protruding second-floor balcony, changing its descent just enough to avoid the Ice Spikes that could have disemboweled it. It landed between Angel and Moriarty, constantly turning its neck to look at the two people at either end of the alley, seemingly unable to decide.

"Wooo—"

A low growl came from between its tightly clenched fangs. The black dog swiftly chose its target—Moriarty. As though it bore him a deep hatred, it kicked off with all four limbs and pounced at the detective, who had just climbed to his feet.

"Bang—"

Angel stepped forward with her right foot, and Frost rapidly spread from beneath her sole.

After digesting the Sequence 7 Potion, her command over the power of Frost was far more refined than when she had first consumed the Witch Potion and advanced to Sequence 7. Her fine control over the ice she summoned was also vastly superior to before.
