Early Thursday morning, Angel arrived at Harvest Church in the Bridge South District.
Before setting out, she put the Madness Ring back on. In the half-length mirror, she saw herself revert to that utterly unremarkable woman with black hair, freckles, and a round face. Yet today, this "Irene Watson" in the mirror looked slightly prettier. Angel guessed it was likely a change brought by advancing to Sequence 6, something even psychological disguise could not completely suppress.
"Hello, Father Utravsky. We meet again."
Taking advantage of the early hour, before many worshippers had come to pray, she greeted the Priest, who was already cleaning the church.
He set down the rag he had been using to wipe the candlesticks and turned to look at Angel.
"Hello. I didn't expect us to meet again. Are you lost again?"
The mention of getting lost irritated Angel somewhat. She took out the Master Key, which had cost her countless carriage fares, waved it before the Priest, and said with suppressed anger:
"This key has gotten me lost countless times. But I came here voluntarily today. I need to know where it came from and how to resolve the 'curse' on it."
If she could not solve the Master Key's problem, she would have to use it cautiously and might not even be able to carry this Mystical Item with her most of the time. That would greatly diminish its value. After all, when she truly needed to pass through a wall, open a door, or pick a lock, she could not exactly go home to retrieve the key.
Moreover, that strange flash of red during yesterday's advancement had most likely come from the influence she had received while divining the key's origins. That made her suspect that the Master Key's curse might be related
