Was she more concerned about the source of the Potion formula than the fact that I had hidden my real appearance?
Angel was taken aback at first, but quickly realized that this was because of the Demoness Sect's internal control measures, as well as the need to prevent formulas from leaking out and creating too many "Wild Witches" who could threaten the sect's safety.
According to the Law of Conservation of Extraordinary Characteristics, Beyonders of the same Pathway were actually in a hidden competitive relationship. Rather than painstakingly searching for or buying Potion ingredients at a high price, directly targeting a Beyonder of the next Sequence might be more convenient. And once there were too many uncontrolled Wild Witches, the Mid Sequence and High Sequence Beyonders of that Pathway would have to constantly worry about becoming their prey.
The most typical example Angel had seen was Artisan Kavi of Enmat Harbor's Machinery Hivemind and the defecting Beyonder Tomaz. The latter had directly made Kavi, who was one Sequence above him, his hunting target and had nearly succeeded.
For that reason, even secret organizations with lax discipline exercised quite strict control over Potion formulas above Mid Sequence.
Sevillea had readily provided the Potion ingredients but remained unwilling to reveal the complete formula. That was surely the reason as well.
Angel had long rehearsed these questions and the reasons behind them. A conflicted, hesitant expression appeared on her face, and only after a moment did she answer:
"The Potion ingredients came from Sevillea. They were her reward for the missions I completed recently, while the formula..." She paused and looked toward Lady Despair's faintly smiling face. "It came from a private transaction."
"Tell me about that transaction, and who the trader was."
Lady Despair, Panacea, looked at Angel with her beautiful eyes
