Mr. X... Mr. A?
Another similar name immediately came to Xio's mind. The latter had once organized gatherings in Backlund's West Borough. She had attended from time to time, buying plenty of potion ingredients there and helping her aristocratic friends seek out formulas and purchase Beyonder ingredients.
Of course, that gathering had been broken up late last year during the citywide lockdown and manhunt following Duke Negan's assassination.
That gathering was said to be connected to the evil Aurora Order. Could Mr. X, the organizer of this small gathering in East Borough, have the same affiliation?
Since becoming an auxiliary member of MI9, Xio had grown sensitive to such things. She knew how much harm the Aurora Order had done as a secretive evil organization, and that leaving those lunatics alone would soon lead to tragedy. Her first impulse was to turn around and report them to her superior or one of the Orthodox Churches.
Of course, it was also quite possible that some ignorant Beyonders had adopted the nickname to capitalize on its notoriety. Perhaps they knew nothing of the Aurora Order's dangers, or perhaps they knew and wanted to exploit its reputation. Either way, they might have chosen a name resembling that of Mr. A, a confirmed Aurora Order Oracle, to draw independent Beyonders to their gathering and make a name for themselves quickly.
If that was the case, Xio, who knew how hard life was for independent Beyonders, was less inclined to report them and risk harming innocent people.
I'll go in and take a look first. After a few gatherings, if I'm sure they're connected to the Aurora Order, I'll report them. Besides, even if Mr. X is an Aurora Order Oracle, reporting him immediately would draw their attention to Sherman... Xio pressed her lips together.
