Helene shook her head and realized she was lying on the bedroom floor, with the chair beneath her. Her whole body ached from sleeping in an awkward position.
She slowly got up and looked at the desk piled with thick books, then at the street where people were already stirring. She could not remember when she had fallen asleep.
Of course, that strange nightmare still echoed in her mind. Combined with what she had read before bed, Helene could be fairly certain that those scenes had taken place in the underground section of the mausoleum in the church cemetery, specifically the part near the core of the seal.
Black-robed enforcers with blindfolded eyes and lanterns in their hands, a fog that obscured their surroundings, and finally a mountain piled from corpses... She set the chair upright and sat back down at the desk, opening Underground Mausoleum Construction Examples again. Soon, she found a partial map of the winding passages she had walked through in her dream.
But the hall containing that mountain of corpses was a blank space on the map.
"Without a doubt, that's where Salinger's Blood Banner is sealed. Someone deliberately erased it from the map... For now, I'll have William piece together the rest of the maps and find a route to that location..."
Muttering to herself, she closed the book and stretched her aching joints and muscles. A dark holy emblem fastened to her left wrist with a silver chain gleamed dimly in the morning light.
*Didn't Miss Angelica say that, besides providing anti-divination and protection against prophecy, this holy emblem could also keep nightmares away... Does that dream fall outside the Evernight Goddess's jurisdiction? But I did feel more lucid in the dream. At least I could remember the whole thing, except for that object
