Unlike the Lord of Storms cathedral Derrick had briefly glimpsed in Bayam, with its enormous dome, narrow windows, and illumination provided by countless candles, Mr. Fool's cathedral was furnished simply. There was no gold leaf or stained glass, only warm sunlight streaming through practical, large windows and a series of enormous murals.
Most of the murals had only their borders carved out, with nothing painted inside yet, but a few were finished, their colors vivid in the sunlight pouring through the windows.
The moment Derrick stooped to enter the Prayer Hall, the enormous mural directly opposite him caught his attention.
It depicted a group of people walking through a black wilderness, against a dark sky lit only by flashes of lightning.
Just like the Forsaken Land of the Gods... As understanding dawned on him, his gaze settled on the people struggling onward like pilgrims.
Among them were giants two or three meters tall and grotesque people with distorted features, missing eyes or noses, yet all wore hopeful expressions, a faint light hidden in their eyes.
At the very front were several guides of different builds, clearly painted with greater care: a graying man carrying two swords on his back, a small giant surrounded by halos that illuminated the path ahead, and a silver-haired woman whose trailing shadow formed a Black Armored Knight.
There was also an angel holding a flag pointed toward the sky, her long golden hair streaming in the wind and faint wings seemingly flickering behind her back, as well as an emissary wearing a top hat, carrying a lantern, and leaning on a cane.
