A mirror... there was only one Master of the Mirror World, so had Miss Empress intervened?
Fors looked up in the direction the mirror had appeared from, only to discover, to her disappointment, that it had been thrown by the Abomination Reinette Tinekerr, who had already returned to her normal size.
With a wave of Reinette's hand, the mirror returned to her grasp. Deep crimson light kept surfacing on it, making it look sinister and terrifying. Rings of thornlike, pitch-black patterns then wound around its frame, briefly quieting the crimson mist that had already been struggling to escape the mirror and return to reality.
Only then did Fors confirm that the aura emerging from the remains of the Phoenix Ancestor, who had returned from death only to die again, belonged to the strongest Great Old One beyond the barrier—the Mother Goddess of Depravity.
As expected, Gregrace's corpse transformation was the work of that Pillar-level Great Old One, including the enormous bird egg she laid as a corpse... That aura probably tried to burrow into the egg to cause more problems inside the barrier and hasten the Apocalypse, but... had Madam Reinette prepared for this beforehand?
Fors's previous instructions had been to come to the Southern Continent, meet up with several other angels, and explore the Underworld together in search of part of Zedus's remains. Now, however, it seemed that Mr. Azik and Madam Reinette might have had other tasks, such as returning the resurrected Death, Gregrace, to dust and thwarting certain schemes of the Mother Goddess of Depravity. That was why, when Fors had wanted to retreat earlier, the Abomination Reinette had decisively assumed her mythical creature form and attacked... At this thought, a faint sense of grievance rose in Fors's heart, as though everyone else had excluded her.
