Angels Gather in Trier

Angel was somewhat taken aback by the answer from the messenger, who held two heads in each hand.

She still remembered how long it had taken the major churches to disperse the poisonous fog during Backlund's Great Smog, and how long the Goddess Church's angel had taken to reach the scene, deal with Panacea, and save her from the brink of death.

"Why would the Orthodox Churches in Trier react so quickly?"

Looking into Reinette's eight emotionless, crimson eyes, Angel steeled herself and asked.

"Because..." "There are..." "Angels..." "Stationed here..."

Did Reinette mean that, unlike in Backlund, the Orthodox Churches' angels could remain stationed in Trier for extended periods without having to abide by the tacit understanding between the churches?

Or did the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun and the Church of Steam simply have no such understanding here about "Grade 0 Sealed Artifacts and Grounded Angels staying out of Trier"? Had they stationed their major fighting forces in this city to ensure their churches' safety, or to oppose each other?

That was why Messenger Miss had said that intense combat at the demigod level or above would draw intervention from those forces within five minutes at most...

This city feels much more dangerous than Backlund. The emperor two hundred years ago was a transmigrator, there's some inexplicable corruption underground, university students go courting death in the catacombs every year and disappear, the two major churches have stationed angels here, a High Sequence Witch is throwing same-sex parties, and "Mirror People" have even infiltrated the Presidential Palace...

By comparison, smuggling a few weapons and pinning the blame on Intis hardly counted as anything.

Angel could not help mentally lighting a candle for Trier, that city so blessed with outstanding people and surroundings. Then she told Reinette that she would
