Background

Angel’s present existence is tied to Cole Granger, a Night Goddess believer whom Mrs. Sharon introduced to the Beyonder world as an Assassin. After Angel appeared beside Cole’s newly deceased body, Angel inherited the Assassin potion and its abilities while lacking a complete understanding of how this transition occurred. 3 1273

Angel’s Mirror Person later revealed that the two had briefly been Doomsday Witches before becoming Angel Granger and a Mirror Person, respectively. Their memories begin with Adam and Amanises standing before them, and Angel eventually confirms that Adam and the Goddess of the Night had altered parts of those memories. 983 845

Mrs. Sharon’s return to Tingen made Angel report her former mentor to the Nighthawks. Angel warned Dunn Smith to treat Sharon as a Sequence 6 threat, then assisted Daly and Leonard in the defense of Blackthorn Security Company that ended with Sharon’s death. 14 19

Angel formally joined the Nighthawks under Dunn Smith and met Klein Moretti as another new recruit. This placed Angel in the same circle as Rosanne, Old Neil, Leonard Mitchell, and the Tingen team. 23

Appearance

Angel’s Witch form is that of a tall woman with light-golden hair and deep purple eyes. Promotion to Ageless further altered this form’s temperament, making its spiritual charm and feminine presence markedly stronger. 847

  • Light-golden hair, which can transform into snake-like strands in Mythical Creature Form. 980
  • Deep purple eyes that may darken nearly to black while using Witch or Mirror World abilities. 823 847
  • Female physical form resulting from the Witch pathway’s transformation. 152 203
  • A blood-colored symbol of a flaming double-edged sword appears upon Angel’s body as a manifestation of Calamity City’s Grace. 847
  • Angel Grey, Angel’s Mirror Self, resembles Angel closely but can appear with a black, bloodstained crown and the Salinger Blood Flag. 1305

Personality

Angel is cautious in investigations and combat, planning infiltration routes, relying on divination, and refusing to treat stronger enemies lightly. Encounters with Clarice, Amon, and the Original Witch reinforce Angel’s tendency to retreat, gather information, and prepare countermeasures rather than gamble on direct confrontation. 36 657 989

Despite wielding powers associated with calamity, curses, and destruction, Angel repeatedly acts to protect others. Angel pursued Mrs. Sharon, investigated human trafficking, released the Shepherded Reaper soul rather than retaining it, and established a Church intended to give former Witches a place to atone. 19 340 843 1293

Angel is highly inquisitive about new powers and mystical knowledge, but recognizes the danger of Spirituality depletion, high-sequence suppression, corrupted Characteristics, and the spiritual imprints contained within potions. 153 262 993

Abilities & Skills

Assassin and Instigator Abilities

Angel retains the physical and sensory foundation of the Assassin pathway.

  • Spirit Vision — perceives spiritual radiance from living beings, mystical materials, and items through thin obstacles. 3
  • Enhanced physique — improved agility, eyesight, Dark Vision, Charged Strike, and spiritual intuition. 77
  • Instigation and charm — can make targets more receptive to Angel’s words and regard Angel as a trusted confidant. 77
  • These effects are dangerous against unguarded ordinary people but do not guarantee control over prepared Beyonders. 77

Witch Magic

The Witch potion gives Angel instinctive knowledge of several spell-like abilities.

  • Black Flame — cursed fire used offensively and in combination with other Witch abilities. 153 192
  • Frost — freezes enemies and can be deployed alongside Black Flame against powerful targets. 192 670
  • Curses — can be cast through blood, hair, direct contact, or Invisible Spider Silk; Angel can also create substitutes that redirect incoming curses. 262
  • Invisibility — can conceal Angel even from conventional detection, particularly when combined with the Witch card’s anti-divination properties. 745
  • Bewitchment — influences a target’s emotions and attention; Angel uses it to calm or interrogate vulnerable targets. 823 1369

Mirror World Manipulation

Mirror magic is Angel’s defining combat and mobility specialty.

  • Mirror Substitute — creates substitutes through mirrors, including Ice Mirrors; by Sequence 6, Angel can exchange positions with a substitute within roughly fifty meters. 262
  • Mirror travel — moves through the Mirror World and mirror tunnels for infiltration, escape, and rapid deployment. 769 793
  • Magic Mirror Divination — uses reflective surfaces to investigate people, locations, and mystical events; powerful targets can counterattack through divination. 192 823
  • Mirror Channeling — communicates with the dead through a Magic Mirror to interrogate Spirit Bodies. 340
  • Mirror Person — Angel’s independent Mirror Self can act separately, receive prayers, and synchronize power with Angel. 864 1291

Demigod and Angel Authorities

At higher Sequences, Angel’s Witch abilities develop into large-scale Authorities.

  • Petrification — evolves from contact-based effects into remote petrification capable of affecting targets at range. 847 980
  • Resurrection and Ageless Immortality — Angel and the Mirror Person function as mutual backups; if one survives, both can eventually return. 980
  • Calamity — summons meteor showers, tsunamis, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. 980
  • Man-made Disaster Authority — allows Angel to influence disasters caused by human action. 980
  • Chaos Authority — purifies corrupted Extraordinary Characteristics and permits direct use of Calamity City’s power. 1078
  • Feminine Authority — can transform targets bearing a “male” symbolism into female forms and strengthens effects such as Bewitchment and Joy. 1293

Mythical Creature Form

Angel can fully manifest the Witch pathway’s Mythical Creature Form without immediately losing control.

  • Snake-like hairs carry lethal petrifying effects; even a single strand threatens lower-sequence Beyonders. 980
  • The form’s overflowing Divinity can cause madness or loss of control in insufficiently protected observers. 980
  • Angel’s stability relies on Anchors, including Klein and the Mirror Person, as well as the faith accumulated through Angel’s Honorific Name. 993

Pathway Fusion and Conquest Grace

Calamity City grants Angel access to abilities beyond the Witch pathway.

  • Grace of Calamity City — makes Angel simultaneously comparable to a Sequence 4 Iron-Blooded Knight of the Hunter pathway. 847
  • Flame Transformation — provides temporary immunity to much conventional damage. 709
  • Connection — shares damage and gathers strength through subordinates. 709
  • Salinger Blood Flag — gives Angel the Authority of Conquest over Soldier Puppets and supports large-scale battlefield control. 1179 1244

Equipment and Sealed Artifacts

  • Magic Mirror — used for divination, Channeling, communication, and access to the Mirror World. 340 793
  • Good Luck Revolver — carries power associated with Uroboros and played a decisive role in a major battle. 576
  • Rose Necklace — a Shepherding item upgraded with a Black Knight Characteristic; it can contain multiple souls and use abilities such as Spirit Flesh Blade and Flesh Magic. 843
  • Wings of Death — a Demigod-level Magical Item later upgraded by Azik; it can freeze targets and was used against Sirio Sauron. 670 741
  • Angelica’s Edge — an Iron-Blooded Knight longsword received from Cattleya, possessing powerful abilities and severe negative effects. 816 848
  • Salinger Blood Flag — the Red Priest Uniqueness, normally accessed by Angel as a projection through the Mirror World. 1138 1179
  • Trensuost Brass Book (0-02) — a Level 0 Sealed Artifact imprisoned within Calamity City. 1150 1151
  • Sword of Glory (0-63) — a Sealed Artifact prepared for missions involving the Giant Court. 1112 1150
  • Book of Revelation — used to alter the prophecy concerning the arrival of Doomsday. 1343

Relationships

  • Klein Moretti / “The Fool” — fellow Nighthawk recruit, Tarot Club ally, and Angel’s closest partner. They repeatedly fight together, support each other’s promotions, and are acknowledged as a couple by Azik and the Witch Church’s Honorific Name. 23 741 1157 1350
  • Angel Grey / Mirror Person — Angel’s Mirror Self and essential Anchor. The two retain separate identities and can synchronize their powers; Grey later becomes the planned Pope of the End Church. 983 1305 1408
  • Mrs. Sharon — Cole Granger’s former Beyonder mentor and Angel’s enemy. Her attack on Blackthorn Security Company ended when Angel killed her with Storm Convergence. 3 19
  • Dunn Smith — Nighthawk captain who trusted Angel’s intelligence on Mrs. Sharon and accepted Angel into the Nighthawks. 14 23
  • Leonard Mitchell — former Nighthawk teammate and later ally. Angel continues to assist Leonard and permits him to send letters through The Fool. 19 1370
  • Daly Simone — Nighthawk ally whose Spirit Mediumship restrained Mrs. Sharon long enough for Angel to deliver the fatal shot. 19
  • Azik Eggers — trusted elder and ally who upgraded Wings of Death and openly expressed his wish to attend Angel and Klein’s wedding in dreams. 741
  • Annie Gustav — long-lived Angel and adviser on Honorific Names, Anchors, and Angelic stability. 864 993

  • Qik / the former Original Witch — Angel’s principal divine enemy and predecessor. Angel eventually replaces Qik as the Original Witch. 989 1333 1343
  • Triss, Ilian, Annie, Tracy, and Eugina — Witches who become Angel’s subordinates or allies after Angel takes control of the Witch Pathway’s Uniqueness. 1293

Story Role / Major Arcs

Tingen and the Nighthawks

Angel begins as an unofficial Assassin connected to Mrs. Sharon, then exposes Sharon’s threat and joins the Nighthawks. Angel’s early cases establish a pattern of investigating criminal Beyonders, confronting Witch Sect members, and working beside Klein’s Tingen team. 14 19 23

The Witch Pathway

Angel advances through Instigator, Witch, and Pleasure Witch while discovering Black Flame, Frost, Curses, Magic Mirror Divination, Mirror Substitutes, and Invisible Spider Silk. The physical transformation caused by becoming a Witch remains central to Angel’s identity and later decisions about changing pathways. 77 152 153 262

Demigod of Calamity City

After becoming a Despair Witch, Angel develops a connection to Calamity City and gains increasingly dangerous Calamity attacks. Encounters with Mirror People, Sirio Sauron, Clarice, Adam’s imagined island, and the Witch Sect reveal that Angel’s Mirror World connection is tied to far greater forces. 574 639 657 670

Ageless Witch and Angel

Angel’s Ageless promotion reveals the extent of the memory manipulation surrounding Angel’s origin. As a Calamity Witch, Angel becomes capable of worldwide responses to prayer, disaster-scale attacks, and direct entry into Calamity City, while struggling against the Original Witch’s spiritual influence. 845 980 989 993

Doomsday Witch and Original Witch

Angel’s sudden promotion to Doomsday Witch leads to control over the Witch Pathway Uniqueness and the Mirror World itself. After the conflict with Qik and the acquisition of the final Doomsday Characteristic, Angel becomes a True God and publicly declares the position of the new Original Witch. 1179 1293 1333 1343

Witch Church

Angel establishes and expands the Witch Church in Dream City, gathering former Witch Sect assets, Sealed Artifacts, Saints, and believers. Angel redefines the Church’s image around protection, atonement, and preparation for Doomsday rather than the old Witch Sect’s secrecy and cruelty. 996 1150 1350

Honorific Name

Angel announces the following Honorific Name to the Witch Church:

“Terminator of Calamity and Strife, Empress Wielding Chaos, Origin of the Mirror World. Eternal Companion of the Lord of Mysteries. Goddess of Disaster, Angel Granger.” 1350

Angel rejects prolonged use of “Original Witch” and “Chaos Witch” as fixed titles because both could create dangerous mystical connections to the First Creator and inherited spiritual imprints. 1343

Notable Quotes

“No, ‘Benevolent Witch,’ Angel.” 1343
