Ch. 521Future

Angel and Klein boarded Cattleya’s ship, the Future, and met its officers as it set sail toward the eastern Sonia Sea to search for mermaids. Angel sensed Anne contacting her through their mark, raising the possibility that Queen Anne’s Revenge was the Ghost Empire haunting the sea.

  • Angel and Klein boarded the Future, where Cattleya assessed their strength and welcomed them under their public identities.
  • Cattleya explained that most of the crew would remain on other ships while the Future sailed east, then introduced First Mate Frank Lee and Second Mate Heath Doyle.
  • Cattleya assigned Klein and Angel rooms near her quarters, and Nina, the Sailor Chief, escorted Angel to hers.
  • Angel felt the mark from her contract with Anne warm and briefly glow, confirming that Anne had contacted her.
  • Angel wondered whether Queen Anne’s Revenge was the Ghost Empire that appeared in the Sonia Sea.

Ch. 522Journey

Klein answered Justice’s request to divine the origin of a dragon-related notebook, while Fors received a powerful magical recording notebook from Dorian. Aboard the Future, Frank showed off his wine-producing fish as Nina and Angel prepared for a swim.

  • Klein settled into a separate suite aboard the Future and placed most of his Mystical Items aside for safety.
  • Justice asked Mr. Fool to use Magic Mirror Divination to confirm the origin of a notebook, and Klein saw that it was related to dragons.
  • Dorian Gray Abraham explained that Leimano’s Travel Notes could record and reuse Beyonder abilities, then entrusted the notebook to Fors.
  • Frank Lee demonstrated a fish that produced wine, and Cattleya asked him whether Nina was ready.
  • Nina and Angel came onto the deck in fish-skin bodysuits, preparing to enter the water, while Klein and the sailors watched.

Ch. 523Bottomless Abyss

Angel and Nina explored a submerged Fourth Epoch ruin and found a narrow well that seemed to draw Nina toward it. After they escaped and brought back samples, Cattleya decided the Future would leave and return only if further study justified it.

  • Angel told Klein she planned to join Nina’s underwater expedition, then accepted a medicinal apple from Frank as Nina and the sailors entered the sea.
  • Angel and Nina descended to the seafloor, where they found the remains of a vast structure and collected corroded metal bars.
  • The pair discovered a tiny, seemingly bottomless well, and Angel pulled Nina away when the well’s influence made her drift toward it.
  • Angel and Nina returned to the Future with samples, and Cattleya judged the strange metal and black soil inconclusive.
  • Cattleya ordered the crew to set sail and said they could revisit the ruin after she studied the samples.

Ch. 524Encounter with the Pirate King

The Future encountered the badly damaged Death Announcer, whose King of Immortality Agalito nearly drove its crew mad with a single laugh. Cattleya escaped by flying the ship away, and Angel sedated the recovering crew, only to realize no one was left to steer.

  • Angel spotted a huge ship approaching the Future, and Cattleya identified it as the Death Announcer, flagship of King of Immortality Agalito.
  • The battered Death Announcer passed alongside the Future, and Agalito's malicious laughter overwhelmed the crew with madness and violent desires.
  • Cattleya used the Future's runes and starlight to shield the crew, then propelled the ship through the air and away from the Death Announcer.
  • Angel and Klein recovered first, and Angel used Frank's bacteria-based sedative to calm the crew by spreading its disease-like effects.
  • Nina recovered and angrily asked who would steer the ship after Angel had knocked everyone out.

Ch. 525Arrive, or Begin?

After the Future survived the Death Announcer and encountered Anne’s Ghost Ship, it reached the dangerous sea Cattleya had been seeking. The ship plunged through a vast chasm and emerged on the other side, where Cattleya warned that the real danger had only begun.

  • Angel and Klein returned to their rooms, and Angel hugged Klein good night before going to eat a forgotten dinner.
  • Anne’s Queen Anne’s Revenge passed the Future, suppressing the effects of the Mystical Items aboard as Angel wondered if it had defeated the injured Death Announcer.
  • The Future sailed through the night and entered calm waters, where Cattleya told Angel and Klein they were nearing their destination.
  • A huge fissure opened beneath the sea and dragged the Future downward; Angel used threads to secure Klein and the sailors as a column of water lifted the ship back to sea level.
  • Cattleya said they had reached only the beginning of the world’s most dangerous sea, and Angel brought Klein a replacement breakfast.

Ch. 526Mysterious Sea

Leonard questioned Emily O'Neill about the Capim Kidnapping Case and learned that she was rapidly forgetting the appearance of a woman seen at the villa. Meanwhile, the Future crossed a mysterious sea where a lethal Golden Chariot passed overhead, killing a pirate despite Cattleya's warning.

  • Leonard used a dreamlike interrogation to help Emily recall the woman standing on the villa roof, whose face remained blurred.
  • Leonard suspected a Spectator was involved in Emily's unusually rapid loss of memory and left Backlund for Conston.
  • Angel, Klein, and Cattleya sailed past ruins and discussed the sea's imagined monsters and the real mermaids Klein sought.
  • The Future approached a floating island as a Golden Chariot descended, and Cattleya ordered everyone to lower their heads.
  • After the chariot passed, Angel saw the charred footprints of a pirate who had been burned to ash, and Cattleya told Nina to remember his name and continue onward.

Ch. 527Dreams and Reunion

After the Future entered a sudden supernatural night, Angel fell asleep and awoke in a dreamlike library, where she encountered Bernadette Gustav. Bernadette offered to trade Roselle’s genuine diaries for the method of deciphering his writing, and Angel’s mention of Anne made Bernadette react with urgency.

  • Angel and Klein entered the Future’s dining room as daylight abruptly turned to darkness, and Cattleya ordered everyone to return to their rooms and sleep.
  • Angel awoke in a vast library within a dream and saw Klein and Cattleya across an abyss beneath a distant, sunset-lit palace.
  • Angel found a book titled Rosell’s Notes 5, but its pages were blank when she picked it up.
  • Bernadette Gustav appeared and offered genuine diaries in exchange for the method of deciphering Roselle’s writing, along with other assistance.
  • Angel told Bernadette that Anne was alive and searching for her, and Bernadette urgently asked whether Sister Anne was still alive.

Ch. 528Mystic Queen

Angel learned that Bernadette was searching for Anne, and that the waters around the Future were God War Ruins filled with dangerous divine powers. After returning from the dream, Angel and Klein rejoined the crew, who prepared to reach an island before an approaching storm.

  • Angel told Bernadette that Anne had survived, wanted to see her, and had recently been active near the Sonia Sea.
  • Bernadette explained that the waters were God War Ruins where an ancient god had fallen and warned Angel not to explore the dangerous dream or reveal her presence to Cattleya.
  • Angel returned to the Future and told Klein that Anne's desired person had warned her against exploring the dream.
  • Angel and Klein ate lunch with Frank Lee, who eagerly discussed his experiments and asked to use Angel's ability to spread bacteria among the ship's bulls.
  • Cattleya ordered the crew to head for an island before a storm, and Klein warned Angel not to challenge a storm with an omen as gloom appeared in the sky.

Ch. 529Unlucky Hunter and Attacked Demoness

Angel and Klein explored the God War Ruins aboard the Future, where Cattleya rescued the stranded hunter Anderson Hood and learned about the King of Angels Ouroboros. After the ship resumed its journey, Angel entered a dream and found her mirror double attacking her.

  • Cattleya guided the Future into a sheltered harbor as a violent storm struck, then let the crew explore the island once the storm passed.
  • Angel told Klein that Queen Mystic was Emperor Roselle's daughter and might still be in contact with Cattleya, and Klein considered how to handle her knowledge of the Fool.
  • Angel spotted Anderson Hood running toward the beach, and Klein attacked him with Storm Charms until Cattleya recognized him and ordered everyone to hold fire.
  • Anderson recounted how a mural of Ouroboros had brought misfortune upon his expedition, and Cattleya agreed to take him aboard the Future in exchange for half his gains and the location of mermaids.
  • Anderson recognized Angel's Good Luck revolver as the weapon he had ordered in Backlund, but Angel denied his claim, and the Future followed his safe route through the ruins.
  • Angel fell asleep through meditation and awoke in a dark basement, where her mirror double stepped out and attacked her with a Bone Blade.

Ch. 530The Person in the Mirror

Angel fought a mirror image that shared her abilities and sought to kill her in the dream so it could seize her body. She defeated it with a Calamity Charm and found a black mirror shard left behind.

  • Angel recognized the attacker as a left-right-reversed mirror image with the same Mystical Items and abilities, and fought off its Control Desire.
  • Angel used Storm Charms and close combat to wound the Person in the Mirror, but both spent their Magic Mirrors as the battle dragged on.
  • Angel realized her opponent was trying to exhaust her and make her lose control, so she prepared her Calamity Charm for a decisive attack.
  • The Person in the Mirror anticipated Angel's move and stabbed her, but Angel activated the Charm as the last full-length mirror shattered.
  • Angel redirected the Calamity Charm toward the Person in the Mirror as it emerged from the final mirror, destroying it and leaving a black shard behind.

Ch. 531Overcome Yourself

Angel defeated a Mirror Person in a dream and completed the digestion of her Sequence 5 Affliction Potion. After waking aboard the Future, she discovered that the dream had consumed her Calamity Charm and left a black mirror fragment in her pocket.

  • Angel picked up the black mirror fragment left by the Mirror Person and realized her Affliction Potion had fully digested after she overcame her reflection.
  • Angel left the dark room and climbed the spiral staircase to an observation hall, where she found Bernadette Gustav watching the sunset.
  • Bernadette told Angel that the Black Monastery and the Giant King's Court were connected to locations in the waters and that the dream might lead to the Forsaken Land of the Gods.
  • Bernadette explained that Angel had been drawn into a dangerous part of the dream and said she would try to send her to Cattleya's side next time.
  • Angel woke aboard the Future and discovered that her Calamity Charm had become an ordinary iron sheet, while the rest of her ammunition and Charms remained intact.
  • Angel confirmed that her Affliction Potion had digested and found the pitch-black mirror fragment from the dream in her coat pocket.

Ch. 532One After Another

Angel recovered from her dream and returned to the Future, where Frank’s runaway experiments triggered a string of disasters. After Angel and Cattleya helped contain the danger, a corpse giant attacked the ship, and Ludwell’s Black Tulip arrived as a new threat.

  • Angel used Magic Mirror Divination on the mirror fragment, saw her sleeping reflection, then rested until her spirituality recovered.
  • Angel discovered that Frank’s experimental substance had spread across the Future, making milk spray from the ship and its equipment.
  • Frank’s attempt to absorb the milk with vines went out of control, and Cattleya burned the plants away after warning that Earth Mother’s aura remained nearby.
  • A giant hand made of corpses struck the deck, but Anderson tackled Frank clear of its impact; the creature then emerged from the sea and released poisonous mist.
  • Angel used Gale Control to clear the mist while Cattleya activated the Future’s shield, and Klein warned that they were in trouble when Hell Admiral Ludwell’s Black Tulip approached.

Ch. 533Giants and Admirals

The Future's crew fought off a corpse bone giant as Klein stole its toxic mist ability and Angel and Anderson helped bring it down. The Black Tulip then attacked, sending Klein toward the enemy ship while Angel prepared to counter the monsters swarming the Future.

  • Cattleya's crew, Angel, and Klein attacked the corpse bone giant, and Klein stole its ability to produce toxic mist.
  • The giant opened its eye and caused the crew's hair to grow wildly, while Cattleya trapped it in a starlight Cage.
  • Angel's revolver broke the giant's remaining arm, and Anderson cut it apart with a blazing attack.
  • The giant's pieces became monsters, and Cattleya used a Sun Vengeful Soul to destroy some of them.
  • Ludwell's Black Tulip fired a cannon salvo at the Future, and Klein flew toward the enemy ship as Angel demanded Frank Lee's most toxic poison.

Ch. 534Can You Leave Half Behind?

Angel used Frank’s toxin to kill the black monsters aboard the Future, then joined Klein and Anderson in attacking Hell Admiral Ludwell on the Black Tulip. As Ludwell drew his ship toward a giant Bronze Gate, Angel threw a Calamity Charm at the vessel and leapt overboard.

  • Angel spread Frank’s bacteria-based toxin through Disease, killing the black monsters and ending their attack on the Future.
  • Klein used Azik’s Bronze Whistle to draw the undead away from the Future, leaving Ludwell without his crew.
  • Angel launched Anderson toward the Black Tulip, and the two joined Klein in fighting Ludwell beside the Bronze Gate.
  • Ludwell used his ring and mask to enlarge the gate, drawing the Black Tulip into it as Anderson jumped into the sea and Klein retrieved his whistle.
  • Angel threw the Calamity Charm onto the Black Tulip and jumped overboard; the portion of the ship still outside the gate collapsed as if it had aged a thousand years.

Ch. 535Advancing Amid Song

After the Future escaped the God War Ruins’ sea, Klein prepared and drank the Marionettist potion while Angel and the crew watched. He survived the transformation and gained the Marionettist’s vision of the invisible threads connecting people and things.

  • Angel, Klein, and Anderson escaped the collapsing Black Tulip as the Future’s pirates fired on the uncontrolled undead, and the crew celebrated Angel and Klein as heroes.
  • The Future’s crew cleaned the deck, buried their fallen crewmate, and sailed deeper into the God War Ruins while Klein removed the True Creator’s corruption from the All-Black Eye.
  • Klein prepared the Marionettist potion from the purified Beyonder Characteristic and Sonia Island’s Golden Spring Water, then took it as mermaid songs stirred the crew.
  • Cattleya’s runes shielded the Future from the mermaids’ songs, and Klein left alone in a boat to reach a nearby reef.
  • Frank gave Angel a sealed bottle of poison, and she accepted it as a useful Auxiliary Material for her Despair potion.
  • Klein completed the transformation without losing control, saw the threads extending from Angel and everything around him, and recognized himself as a Marionettist.

Ch. 536The Power of a Marionettist

Klein explained his Marionettist abilities to Angel and let her experience Spirit Body Thread control so they could assess its dangers and agree on a way to recognize him. As the Future left the God War Ruins, Angel reviewed the expedition and entered a dream where Anderson's confidence in escaping his bad luck was immediately shattered.

  • Klein told Angel that he could control Spirit Body Threads within five meters and permanently turn a fully controlled target into a marionette.
  • Angel volunteered to test the ability, sensed Klein manipulating her threads, and escaped his control with Flaming Jump after her thoughts and movements slowed.
  • Angel and Klein agreed that Klein would pinch the right side of his collar with three fingers as a signal to prove his identity, then joked about what he would do without clothes.
  • The Future headed out of the sea region, while Angel reviewed her combat lessons, bounty, potion ingredients, and plans for Sequence 4.
  • Angel dreamed of the Black Monastery, saw Cattleya and Anderson there, and watched Anderson's reclining chair break beneath him as he claimed his bad luck would end.

Ch. 537The Possibility of a Mirror Person

In the dream, Angel witnessed the Saint of Darkness Leomaster being chased by his kind mirror image and learned that mirror images in the ruins split people in reality. After the Future escaped the strange waters, Angel told Klein she was leaving for a few days.

  • Angel negotiated with Anderson over the Sequence 6 Conspirer formula, but they paused when a black-haired man fled into the mural hall pursued by a black-armored warrior.
  • Angel followed the chase and watched the black-haired man recite an Honorific Name toward the Giant King's Court, but no passage opened before vines separated the pursuer and his quarry.
  • Bernadette explained that the men were Leomaster and his kind mirror image, and told Angel that she would take her to find Anne after they left the waters.
  • The Future passed an empty sailing ship bearing bloody writing about the Fountain of Youth, and Cattleya ordered the ship to flee rather than investigate.
  • After the Future returned to normal waters, Angel went to Klein and told him she was leaving for a few days.

Ch. 538Return to the Ghost Ship

Angel summoned Anne from the Future, and Bernadette met the ancient pirate aboard Queen Anne’s Revenge in the Spirit World. While the two women spoke privately, Angel received a letter identifying its sender as Katerina Pelle.

  • Angel used her blood and Anne’s Honorific Name to summon her, and Queen Anne’s Revenge appeared beside the Future.
  • Bernadette and Angel boarded the Ghost Ship as it vanished from the sea and entered the Spirit World.
  • Anne embraced Bernadette and formed an invisible barrier so they could speak privately.
  • Angel spotted her messenger Wensa approaching the ship and stopped Anne from mistaking the messenger for a threat.
  • Angel opened Wensa’s letter and read that Katerina Pelle had sent it.

Ch. 539The Demoness of Unaging's Motive?

Angel received a warning and a Potion ingredient lead from Katerina Pelle, then secured Anne’s help and learned that the island near Para Island carried an aura like the Calamity Charm. The chapter ended with Angel considering the mysterious power behind the Charm and the dangers posed by the Rose School.

  • Angel read Katerina Pelle’s letter, which reaffirmed her agreement with Azik, warned of the Demoness Sect and Rose School, and revealed a Beyonder Creature’s location near Para Island.
  • Angel wondered why Katerina had helped her and whether the Demoness Sect and Rose School were planning attacks against her and Klein.
  • Anne thanked Angel for finding Bernadette and offered additional help before leaving to attend to matters with her.
  • Angel asked Anne for another drop of blood and a promise of direct assistance against powerful enemies, and Anne agreed.
  • Angel asked Bernadette whether Black-Striped Shadow Scorpions lived near Para Island, and Bernadette confirmed Katerina’s lead was accurate.
  • Anne revealed that the island’s ominous aura resembled the Calamity Charm Angel had used.

Ch. 540Falling from the Sky

Angel traveled with Bernadette to Sona Island to investigate an anomaly tied to the Calamity that had affected Bansy Harbor. After surviving a dangerous fall from the Queen Anne's Revenge, Angel found an abandoned village and uncovered a blood-producing sacrificial ritual site connected to the same source as the Bansy ritual.

  • Bernadette told Angel that the key to her promotion lay on the island where she had found the Calamity Charm, then offered to take her there.
  • Anne brought the Queen Anne's Revenge above Sona Island and let it plunge toward the ground before vanishing with Bernadette, leaving Angel to land safely with Feather Fall.
  • Angel used her Magic Mirror to divine the location of an anomaly, then discovered that the nearby plantation village had been abandoned and its residents buried.
  • Angel found a hidden chamber beneath the mill where a crude machine processed blood, along with ritual marks resembling those from Bansy Harbor.
  • Angel recognized that the ritual might transport her to the Underground Catacombs in Trier or another strange place, chose not to test it, and recited Mr. Fool's Honorific Name.
