Background

Xue Ye ruled the Heaven Dou Empire as emperor and was the father of First Prince Xue Qinghe, Second Prince Xue Wuji, and Third Prince Xue Mingtong. He initially knew Qinghe as mild and courteous, so Qinghe's refusal to answer an imperial summons and sudden change in conduct immediately concerned him 4.

When the person inhabiting Qinghe's body, Su Xian, admitted that he was no longer the original Xue Qinghe, Xue Ye reacted with disbelief. He later accepted Su Xian's account of a future in which the Heaven Dou Empire was destroyed by the overseas Sun Moon Empire's Soul Tools, an event that provoked Xue Ye into swearing hostility toward the Sun Moon Empire 7 8.

Personality

Xue Ye is ambitious, proud, and highly responsive to threats against the empire. The destructive potential of Soul Guidance Cannons immediately led him to envision strengthening Heaven Dou's army, unifying the continent, and becoming its sole emperor 8. He ultimately realizes that ambition after Heaven Dou's forces compel the Heaven Nether Great Emperor to submit 368.

Despite his authority, he is often emotionally provoked by his sons. He repeatedly fumes over Su Xian's manipulation, expenditures, and refusal of the throne, while Xue Wuji's recklessness and public defiance also draw his anger 27 57 206 279.

He is protective of his family, particularly Xue An. When Xue An volunteers to command the campaign against Nalan Tianqing, Xue Ye initially refuses because Xue An's child had only recently been born and the expedition was dangerous 94.

Soul Tool Acquisition

Xue Ye recognizes Soul Tools as strategic weapons rather than curiosities. After witnessing a Soul Guidance Cannon blast through a palace hall, he concludes that such weapons could threaten Soul Kings and Soul Emperors and dramatically improve the imperial army 8.

• Obtained Soul Guidance Cannons from Su Xian after agreeing to his demands and promising secrecy around the supposed future events 8 9.
• Paid Su Xian twelve million gold coins for additional Soul Guidance Cannons after Su Xian threatened to sell them to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect instead 27.

Entertainment City and Leisure City

Xue Ye became a frequent source of funding for Su Xian's commercial projects, though not willingly. Su Xian demanded ten million gold coins for Entertainment City; after Xue Ye resisted, Su Xian leveraged the empire's dependence on Soul Tools to secure financing 27.

Su Xian later altered an imperial decree and withdrew fifteen million gold coins from the National Treasury, enraging Xue Ye. The emperor considered the act a deliberate retaliation for his earlier attempts to avoid paying Su Xian 34.

Communications Technology

In November of Douluo Calendar 2633, Xue Ye received a phone from Leisure City and joined the Continent Heroes group chat under the name “Eternal Emperor.” He received red packets from Su Xian and Xue Wuji, but remained irritated that his sons had left their official duties to him 203.

He later recognized phones as valuable governing tools: they could enable faster communication, improve oversight of state affairs, and allow him to receive intelligence from spies stationed among major factions 206.

Major Arcs

Nalan Tianqing Rebellion

When Nalan Tianqing's rebellion threatened the empire, Xue Ye gathered the Xue family's major branches to determine a trustworthy commander. Concerned that Nalan Tianqing's prestige within the army could lead to further betrayal, he ultimately accepted Xue An's offer to lead the campaign 94.

The resulting force consisted of 150,000 troops across heavy infantry, light infantry, and mixed cavalry legions. Xue An commanded the army, while Su Xian served as military supervisor 100.

Bestowal of the Carefree King

Xue Ye opposed Su Xian's request to be granted kingship, seeing it as a rejection of the imperial succession. Su Xian argued that cultivation toward Titled Douluo status would benefit the empire more than becoming emperor, forcing Xue Ye to weigh a potential heir against the value of a future powerhouse 163.

Xue Ye eventually issued an edict granting Su Xian the title Carefree King and assigning him Mingya City, near Heaven Dou City, as his fief. The formal ceremony was postponed until Su Xian reached adulthood 164.

Loss of Control Within the Imperial Family

As Leisure City's influence expanded, Xue Ye found himself increasingly unable to control his sons. Xue Wuji muted him in the Continent Heroes group chat after Xue Ye threatened him, an incident that publicly damaged the emperor's dignity 206.

By the time of Su Xian's later return, Xue Ye was burdened with state matters tied to Leisure Group while Su Xian remained detached from imperial governance. Xue Ye even offered the imperial throne as a betrothal gift, only for Su Xian to decline it 279.

Continental Unification

During the war against the Star Luo Empire, Xue Ye's forces advanced to Star Luo City under the wider advantage created by Su Xian's intervention. Heaven Nether Great Emperor submitted as a vassal, and Xue Ye became the first emperor to unify the continent, adopting the title Eternal Emperor 368.

Following the unification, he later accompanied Su Xian to the Doupo World and attended Su Ling'er's full-month celebration before the Alliance's expedition into Central State 443.
