Just like in most stories.
When Batman had prepared thoroughly, few people could stand against him.
The last three seconds Barry remembered were being ambushed by Batman and injected with a cryogenic stabilization formula developed by Victor Fries.
Normally, given The Flash's metabolism, it would take only three seconds for him to metabolize a drug potent enough to freeze someone solid.
But Batman did not need three seconds.
A whistling iron fist slammed into Barry's jaw, the precise force rolling his eyes back and knocking him unconscious.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself bound in iron chains.
"You're awake." Batman's voice came from behind him.
Barry looked around, only to discover in shock that he had been tightly chained to the very front of the Batmobile.
Vroom!
The engine roared.
"What are you planning to do?" Barry panicked.
"Simple. Since you won't help me, I'll do it myself." Batman gripped the steering wheel and looked at Barry, who was tied to the front of the car. "I've studied the design of your Cosmic Treadmill and modified the engine so I can harness the connection between you and the Speed Force. I'm going to charge into the Speed Force and steal it from you."
Hearing Batman's insane plan, Barry rapidly shook his head. "No, this won't work, Batman!"
But in some ways, Batman was just as stubborn.
He stomped on the accelerator, and the Batmobile roared as it became a red streak of light, hurtling at incredible speed into the Speed Force passage glowing with golden light.
The violent vehicle collided with the mysterious Speed Force, and strange energies tangled together.
Barry screamed as his body began to crumble apart, exposing muscle fibers, then the white bones beneath them.
"Don't do this!"
