A police car was parked by the roadside.
A middle-aged white police officer with blond hair held a cup of black coffee in his hands. Leaning against the cruiser, he stared solemnly at the dazzling lights of New York City in the distance.
"Another busy day, Chief George."
A young white officer stood beside Chief George with a fawning smile. "It's so late, and you're still insisting on staying on duty."
Faced with his subordinate's flattery, George shook his head. "I don't know why, but I have a bad feeling."
George couldn't put this feeling into words. Maybe it was the sixth sense he had developed after serving as New York City's police chief for so long?
