Journey to Spirit City
Left with no choice, Yin Hao could only force a smile and ask.
"Big Sister Hu Liena, who gave you this box?"
Hu Liena only thought for a moment before answering.
"My Master—the Pope Your Majesty—gave it to me."
"Then do you know what was written on the note inside?"
At that, Hu Liena immediately became interested. She stared at Yin Hao with wide eyes, her face full of curiosity.
"What did it say?"
"It said... that you should marry me..."
Hu Liena was stunned for a moment. Her first reaction was that it was impossible, but then she remembered that her Master had personally arranged for her to come here and find Yin Hao. It was not entirely impossible...
Seeing that Hu Liena had actually believed him, Yin Hao finally burst out laughing.
"Hahaha..."
Hearing Yin Hao's laughter, Hu Liena realized that he had tricked her. She immediately became embarrassed and angry, but before she could speak, Yin Hao spoke first.
"Miss Hu Liena, please exercise a little more judgment in the future. Don't believe everything people tell you, or you'll get deceived... Hahaha..."
Listening to Yin Hao's brazen, confident laughter, where was the shy, gullible boy from before?
At this point, no matter how foolish Hu Liena was, she realized that Yin Hao had been playing her from the very beginning.
Flushed with anger, she glared fiercely at Yin Hao.
"Yin Hao!"
Yin Hao's laughter instantly stopped. He lowered his head slightly, seeming to return to that inexperienced appearance, and cautiously asked.
"Big Sister Hu Liena, what's wrong?"
His polite and cautious manner was like a bucket of cold water poured over Hu Liena's rage. With her arm raised, she suddenly did not know whether to strike or pull it back.
She was still utterly confused, unable to understand how Yin Hao, who had just been mocking her, had turned into a shy little brother in the blink of an eye.
But before she could think any further, Yin Hao leaned close again. Looking into Hu Liena's eyes, he said seriously.
"See? I told you to use better judgment. Look at you—weren't you fooled again? Huh? Hahaha..."
With that, Yin Hao flashed away, putting some distance between himself and Hu Liena.
"Ah!"
Ever since awakening her martial soul and being accepted as BiBi Dong's disciple, when had Hu Liena ever suffered such humiliation?
In Spirit City, who did not treat her with the utmost respect? Even those Titled Douluo elders did not dare act presumptuously before her. Who would toy with her like Yin Hao did?
In the end, Yin Hao still boarded the carriage bound for Spirit City with Hu Liena. The Titled Douluo who had accompanied Hu Liena also revealed himself after the two entered the carriage. He was Chrysanthemum Douluo Yue Guan, one of BiBi Dong's two trusted generals.
After learning that BiBi Dong had sent Hu Liena to find him, Yin Hao no longer hesitated and decided to visit Spirit City.
As for whether there would be danger? What level of cultivation did Yin Hao have? How powerful was Spirit Hall? If Pope BiBi Dong wanted Yin Hao dead, was there anywhere safe on the entire Douluo Continent? If that were truly the case, it would make no difference whether he went to Spirit City or not.
Of course, the real reason Yin Hao made up his mind to follow Hu Liena to Spirit City was that note.
There was no shocking secret written on it, nor any horrifying incident. There were only three words: "Sharingan."
This was Yin Hao's secret, a secret he believed no one else could possibly know. Yet it had appeared inside a box. How could Yin Hao not be shocked?
Chrysanthemum Douluo sat outside the carriage and drove, while Hu Liena and Yin Hao sat inside.
Looking at Yin Hao, who sat before her with his eyes closed in quiet rest, Hu Liena curiously looked him over from head to toe.
This was the guy who had caused her Master to send her to this godforsaken place for two whole months. But... why did Master want to see him? Other than being a little better-looking, having a higher-level soul ring configuration, and possessing better talent, there did not seem to be anything special about him.
"Have you looked enough?"
At some point, Yin Hao had opened his eyes and was looking at her.
Hu Liena coughed awkwardly and tried to defend herself.
"You manage the heavens and the earth—now you want to manage where I look too? If you're afraid of people looking at you, why not buy a mask and cover your face?"
Yin Hao did not argue with her. His emotions were complicated now. During the past few days on the road to Spirit Hall, he had considered countless possibilities.
He had even considered whether BiBi Dong might also be a transmigrator. Perhaps she knew everything about him, including the System. He also guessed that there might be other transmigrators by her side who could foresee everything, and so on. But all of that would have to wait until he met BiBi Dong to be confirmed.
Yin Hao asked Hu Liena.
"How much longer until we reach Spirit City?"
Hu Liena was somewhat surprised that Yin Hao did not snap back at her. Over the past few days, she had often tried to pick fights with him, but without exception, Yin Hao had always shut her down. Today was unexpectedly different.
Hu Liena then pulled back the curtain over the carriage window and glanced outside. After roughly judging their location, she replied.
"Soon. If nothing unexpected happens, we should arrive around noon today."
Yin Hao nodded, then closed his eyes again to rest.
Hu Liena had only made herself look foolish, so she stopped trying to talk to Yin Hao.
About two or three hours later, voices gradually began to rise from outside the previously silent carriage. Soon, there were more and more of them—shouts, reprimands, hawkers' cries, every kind of noise imaginable.
Yin Hao opened his eyes and lifted the curtain at the front of the carriage. Gray city walls filled his view. After traveling a little farther, a tall crimson city gate appeared before him.
A soldier at the gate abruptly stopped the carriage.
"Stop! What are you doing here?"
Then, an older soldier hurried over to the first soldier, kicked him away, and gave Chrysanthemum Douluo a slight bow.
"My apologies, sir. He's new and didn't recognize you."
Chrysanthemum Douluo waved a hand. He was not so petty as to argue with a gate guard, and he continued driving the carriage into the city.
Spirit Hall, inside the Pope Palace.
A peerless beauty wearing a crown and purple robes sat upon the lofty papal throne, handling the documents on the desk before her.
At that moment, a soldier entered through the doors of the Pope Palace and first paid his respects to BiBi Dong.
"Pope Your Majesty, the Saintess has returned."
Upon hearing this, BiBi Dong finally stopped reviewing the documents. She set down the one in her hand, raised her head, and asked, "Did she return alone?"
"No. The Saintess also brought back a young man with long blue hair."
A smile finally appeared on BiBi Dong's icy face, and even her stunning features could not conceal her excitement.
"Quickly, let them in."
"Yes."
After receiving the order, the soldier withdrew. BiBi Dong remained seated on the papal throne, her face bright with delight.
