"Big Brother Chen, this is wine I just warmed up. Would you like some?"
At night, the entire merchant team made camp to rest. Chen Fei sat beside the bonfire, staring absentmindedly at the distant sky. Chu Lan carefully approached his side and offered him a flask of warm wine.
"Thank you!"
Chen Fei turned to look at Chu Lan, a faint smile appearing on his face.
"I still have some dried meat over there. Big Brother Chen, I'll go get some for you." Seeing Chen Fei's smile, Chu Lan shyly lowered her head and hurried toward a bonfire not far away.
Chen Fei's smile made Chu Lan's heart flutter. From the very first day she saw Chen Fei in the merchant team, she had hoped to see his face every day, and even more so, to speak with him.
But out of a young girl's reserve, Chu Lan only dared to appear before Chen Fei briefly each time before quickly hiding away. Then she would find another excuse to approach him again.
This had gone on, back and forth, for two whole days.
"Sigh, where's my wine? Lanlan, have you seen Grandpa's wine?" Chu Wennian returned after gathering some firewood and discovered that the wine flask where it had been warming was gone.
"Grandpa, you're already so old. You shouldn't drink anymore; it's bad for your health." Hearing her grandfather call out, Chu Lan hurriedly stepped forward.
"What are you talking about? Your grandfather is still vigorous in his old age. What's wrong with having a little wine!"
Chu Wennian grumbled. His gaze passed over Chu Lan and landed on Chen Fei in the distance, where he happened to spot a wine flask at Chen Fei's side. That shape, that style—wasn't that his wine flask?
