A terrifying pressure permeated the island. The closer one got to its center, the greater that pressure became.
After Dugu Man advanced a hundred steps, her Sea of Consciousness was like storm-tossed waves, constantly enduring the monster's mental assaults. Moreover, as the distance between them narrowed, the frequency of those attacks became increasingly terrifying.
Dugu Man looked ahead. Vaguely, it seemed as though a towering giant stood at the center of the island, looking down at her from on high.
The terror brought by the pressure in the giant's eyes seemed capable of forcing people to their knees, making them worship without end before that heart-quailing dread could be dispelled.
"Break!"
Dugu Man gave a low shout. Countless sword lights flashed, instantly sweeping away the surrounding pressure. Seizing the chance, Dugu Man advanced another hundred or so steps in succession, drawing closer to the center of the island.
Dai Yuqiu followed closely behind Dugu Man. With someone shielding her at the front, the attacks Dai Yuqiu suffered were negligible.
At this point, the monster's true body finally appeared before the two women.
Within a pool of water, countless vines floated across the surface, densely tangled together. From afar, they actually gave the impression of a human brain.
"So this is the monster's true body?" Dugu Man frowned slightly as she looked at its appearance.
The vines bobbed upon the water's surface, and some occasionally pulsed faintly. The pool water appeared clear, yet a trace of scarlet stubbornly lingered within it.
"This monster's greatest strength should be mental attacks, but we cannot rule out other abilities," Dai Yuqiu said quietly.
"Don't worry!"
A spirit sword fell into Dugu Man's hand. Just as she was about to step forward, her brow suddenly furrowed slightly, and she turned to look behind her.
Dai
