Background & Structure

The Void Return Realm is a vast, perilous upper realm whose World Vital Energy contains abundant Spiritual Opportunity. Its cultivation environment allows many children to begin cultivating young, and gifted cultivators can reach the Mountain Sea Realm by adulthood, though reaching Peak Mountain Sea Realm remains difficult. 851 871

Its territories are stratified by resources and power:

• Remote regions, such as the Black Stone Domain, are inhabited by comparatively ordinary races; their strongest cultivators generally reach only the Early Heaven Opening Realm. 1045 1216
• Inner regions, including areas comparable to the Xuanling Domain, possess sufficient World Vital Energy and treasures to support Eighth and Ninth Order cultivation. 1216

Before Chen Fei became Realm Lord, the realm’s strongest native cultivators were Ninth Order Dao Ancestors. They gained authority over powerful rules and Heavenly Daos through Great Dao Competition, which ultimately became a struggle of direct force: rivals often killed one another’s true bodies rather than contesting within the rules alone. 1352 1437

Threats and Instability

Heart Anomaly Realm

The Heart Anomaly Realm produces vengeful spirits and corruptive power that threatens the Void Return Realm’s material plane.

• Material-world cultivators who cultivate by drawing on Heart Anomaly power gradually lose their intelligence and become driven solely by killing. 1176
• The contamination can pollute ordinary World Vital Energy into Heart Anomaly Power, hindering cultivators’ senses and ability to draw on ambient energy. 1176
• Because of this inevitable corruption, no reputable sect or school within the realm openly specializes in Heart Anomaly cultivation. 1176

External Powers

Outsiders from higher realms could strengthen the Void Return Realm’s Heavenly Daos with Plane Origins, granting themselves power comparable to its Dao Ancestors. 1437

The Myriad Realms Martial Arts Tournament entered the realm from the Xuan Yu Realm. Its affiliated faction sought to seize the opportunity to produce a Realm Lord, while the tournament’s Plane Origin rewards could also strengthen the Void Return Realm itself. 1437 1439

Realm Lord Era

The Immortal Ascension Path manifested in the divine souls of every being in the Void Return Realm, including inhabitants of minor planes such as the Endless Sea. The path offered transcendence: its victor would become Realm Lord while elevating the plane alongside them. 1469

The realm possesses no self-awareness, but its instinct for advancement drives it to select the strongest possible Realm Lord. A stronger Realm Lord can lead the plane to continue rising in tier. 1469

Chen Fei ultimately killed Luan Xianyuan, became the sole survivor of the Immortal Ascension Path, and ascended its final rung to claim the Realm Lord position. 1485 1486

Realm Lord Authority

As Realm Lord, Chen Fei can mobilize the Void Return Realm’s full power and all of its Heavenly Dao authority. 1486

• He can perceive matters throughout the realm, with the origin and end of events available to him at will. 1486
• He can use the Time Heavenly Dao within the Void Return Realm, including observing its past. 1486
• He cannot reverse time for the entire plane; the energy required is beyond even a Realm Lord’s practical means. 1486
• He can revive historical beings whose imprints remain in the realm, as demonstrated by the resurrection of Yan, Qiong, and the Origin Race. 1486 1487

Heavenly Dao Limitation

The Void Return Realm developed by imitating the Heavenly Dao of the Xuan Yu Realm. Its imitation was sufficient to reach the Ninth Order peak, but remained incomplete and biased compared with the higher realm’s true Heavenly Dao. 1486

After Chen Fei became Realm Lord, the connection to the Xuan Yu Realm corrected some of these defects and elevated the plane to the peak of Tenth Order. Its future growth became dependent on Chen Fei’s comprehension of the Xuan Yu Realm’s Heavenly Dao. 1486

Spatial Containment

A Realm Lord normally bears the weight of their coexisting plane, severely restricting mobility. Chen Fei initially carried the Void Return Realm within his body and experienced this burden directly. 1488 1489

To protect the realm without surrendering his mobility, Chen Fei altered his Space Grid’s time-stagnation characteristic and stored the entire Void Return Realm within it. 1489

• The Space Grid bears the realm’s weight, allowing Chen Fei to move as freely as a Realm Lord without a plane. 1489
• Chen Fei can retrieve the realm and shelter within it when endangered. 1489
