Background and History

Former life and reincarnation

Tang San was formerly an outer disciple of the Tang Sect in another world. He secretly stole the sect's supreme treasure and cultivation knowledge, including the Mysterious Heaven Skill, before jumping from a cliff when exposed. His soul reincarnated into Tang Hao's son in the Douluo world. 244 279

Tang Hao eventually learns through Shi Nian's Remnant Dream that Tang San is not the original son he raised, but an outside soul occupying that body. Despite this discovery, Tang Hao keeps Tang San alive for his own plans. 245

Nuoding Academy

After awakening both Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer, Tang San is taken by Tang Hao to Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy. He becomes Yu Xiaogang's disciple and trusts him without question, immediately taking his master's side against Yun Qi. 4

Yun Qi interferes with the apprenticeship and steals Tang San's Mysterious Heaven Skill along with a year of his cultivation progress. Tang San notices the sudden loss of Soul Power and progress but cannot determine its cause. 4 5

Tang San later obtains his first Soul Ring from a Mandala Snake after Tang Hao avenges the He Yuan Soul Beast incident. The ordeal leaves Tang San and Yu Xiaogang traumatized and increasingly reclusive. 9

Yun Qi's adopted son

Tang San's poverty and need for recognition make him receptive to Yun Qi's calculated generosity. Over time, he begins calling Yun Qi “Brother Qi,” values his approval above Yu Xiaogang's, and accepts Yun Qi as his father. 22 105 109

After acknowledging Yun Qi as his father, Tang San agrees to forge hidden weapons for the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. Yun Qi supplies him with gold and sends him to Suotuo City to recruit blacksmiths and arrange production. 109

Tang San also gives Yun Qi his Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges after Yun Qi presents him with the corpse of a ten-thousand-year Ironclad Sword Dragon. He is moved by the gift and accepts the difficult task of processing the enormous corpse himself. 44

Exposure, betrayal, and the City of Slaughter

Shi Nian traps Tang San in a Remnant Dream that forces him to relive his former life and theft from the Tang Sect. Tang Hao intervenes and kills Shi Nian, but the dream exposes Tang San's secret to him. 244 245

Bibi Dong later publicly reveals Tang San's former life, his connection to Tang Hao and the Blue Silver Emperor, and his theft of the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. To survive, Tang San offers Spirit Hall the knowledge he brought from his previous world. 279

In exchange for a request, Tang San asks to kill Yu Xiaogang personally. He tortures his former teacher for half an hour before killing him, ending their master-disciple relationship. 280

Hunt for power and godhood

Tang San hunts increasingly powerful Soul Beasts in the Star Dou Great Forest. He kills the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger, absorbs its spirit ring, and resolves to become less arrogant in future battles. 395 398

He then kills the Human-Faced Demon Spider Emperor, gains the Eight Spider Lances External Soul Bone, and absorbs its fifty-thousand-year spirit ring. The Eight Spider Lances evolve to the God-tier Realm after devouring the spider's fluids. 400 401

Tang San defeats three Ninety Thousand Year Thousand Jun Ant Emperors and simultaneously absorbs all three of their spirit rings. The ordeal nearly destroys his body, but it earns the Clear Sky Hammer's full recognition and greatly increases his power. 404 405

Tang San cultivates his He Yuan descendants into a rapidly reproducing force at the border between the Heaven Dou and Star Luo Empires. He empowers them with Wrathful Divine Power, uses their deaths and fear as resources, and personally defeats powerful Soul Masters who attempt to intervene. 453
