Above the Nine Heavens Cloud Layer of the Hundred Spirits Continent, a black shadow too swift for the naked eye streaked past like lightning.
As the black shadow swayed, it seemed to pass directly through space itself. Its form was impossible to make out; one could only sense a dark blur sweeping through the sky, and with another blink, it had already appeared ten thousand miles away.
Such speed was enough to leave ordinary Sovereigns dumbfounded and far behind.
The black shadow suddenly came to a halt, then transformed into an old man clad in blue robes.
Black ripples were embroidered across the old man's blue robe, glimmering faintly. He looked thoughtfully at the vast dark land below.
"There's an astonishing Spirit Qi fluctuation below. Could some Supreme Treasure have emerged? No, I must go take a look. Hehe, I didn't expect to reap such gains so soon after leaving the Boundless Continent."
The old man chuckled, then darted down toward the mountain range.
"The disturbance in the mountains has weakened!"
In the camp, the bonfire had been lit again, but everyone was still shaken. The earlier commotion had been far too immense; each of them had felt that one careless misstep could bring utter disaster. Fortunately, it had ultimately been a false alarm.
However, the earlier experience had also caused quite a few people to lose heart.
"Why don't we call off this training expedition? There's too much that's strange about this. We know nothing, and if we enter the mountains, we may not be able to make it back out."
